Light...

Blinding light; white and bright.

That's what welcomed Kit upon opening his eyes. He screeched in pain as he closed them shut again. It's just way too excruciating. He allowed himself little time to let his eyes adjust. He can feel his head swirling, his mind is still in disarray. What happened?

Then it dawned to him, everything went back as if it was a horrifying nightmare. His chest immediately went into a revolt, his heart pumping out flames like it is being fired in a giant furnace. A great surge of unpleasant feeling suddenly stabbed his agonized heart. He immediately opened his eyes, despite them hurting like being pierced by needles. He looked straight ahead of him. Ceiling, fluorescent lamp. Then he roamed his eyes around.

He doesn't know where he is, but this place is familiar. He's on a bed, people gathered on the far corner of the room, all talking to themselves, as if discussing incomprehensible matters. His eyes searched more, then it struck him. Hospital. I'm in a hospital.

"Kit." Beam's worried voice was the first to register on Kit's ears.

Kit then turned his eyes and saw his friend among the circle of people, who by now all turned their heads around and looked at him.

"B-Beam..." Kit only managed to say his name, the confusion and the anxiety he feels inside his chest is taking its toll, robbing him the capacity to think properly.

"Baby brother," Kaeng immediately came forward, holding unto Kit's hand and eyes filled with pain and worry. "N'Gun, go and call the Dr. Singtan and N'Pha. Quick." Kaeng ordered Kit's other older brother, who swiftly moved out of the room.

Kit's family members flew all the way to Chiang Mai for him.

"Mae," Kit called his mother upon seeing her among the people. "What are you doing here?"

"Lhuk," his mother's eyes started to get wet upon seeing Kit awake. Her worries and anxiety imminent in her voice. "Are you okay? Anything hurts, my boy?"
