Beam looked at his husband as they walked around the hallway of a huge temple, guided by a monk glad in saffron cloak who is so gracious and with constant pleasant manners. He can notice Forth's calm and guarded demeanor. If you don't know him that much, no one can make out what's in his mind. But Beam do, he knows him from inside out. He's like this when his anxious and nervous.
They're now back in Bangkok. They stayed in Chiang Mai longer than planned. They cannot leave Ynan and Kit alone there without their support. The supposed three weeks visit became a four months stay. They saw the early stages of Ynan's battle. The most painful parts, the most heart crushing. They wanted to stay longer --- as long as needed. But it is actually Ynan who pushed them away.
What a great kid. Beam smiled to the memory. How his heart clinched when Ynan said to them that he feels bad that he's holding his Uncles back from things they should do. Ynan wanted them all to live out their lives. So, after they made sure that he's better and things are working out fine, they decided to carry on and went back to Bangkok to deal with the opening of their cafe. Ynan is excited to visit the said cafe. Forth even came up with a drink out of Ynan's favorite matcha green tea. It was his comfort drink whenever he feels pain and irritable. It's a caffeine-free drink with matcha frappe and chocolate chips.
Beam couldn't help but be sad, he terribly missed him. That's why both of them never failed to video chat with him every single day. All of them do, even Yo --- who is now back in America to finish his Master's degree, would always communicate with Ynan.
They just love that kid so much, that's why they decided to come here today after so many months of preparation and consideration. Beam and Forth talked about this for so many months, all the legalities and technicalities required. They made sure everything will go fine.
But Beam couldn't help but notice the unsettled feeling of his husband. Forth's like someone who wanted to get something so bad, but it's not possible for him to acquire. So, he was left with no choice but to settle for something else.
That feeling, Beam thought as he looked at his husband who's still intently following through what the monk is saying. That feeling that he's disappointed.
"Are they ready now, Bhante*?" Forth addressed the kind monk with a bow.
"Yes, they are." The monk said as he bowed at the end of his sentence. He seemed so happy with Beam and Forth's visit to the temple. "It's a huge blessing that you paid us a visit, Sirs."
"This is blessing we're getting anyway, Bhante*." Beam said with a smile.
The kind monk just smiled back as they walked past the main hall of the temple going into a building at the back portion of the complex. There, they were greeted by children who lined in the doorway with their heads lowered to pay their respects to their esteemed visitors. They all seemed eager and excited to see the couple. They all showed their brightest smiles and most impeccable manners.
