The two decided to accept the type of growth their friendship was heading. They've grown to be able to connect together and while they're apart. Octavian would send Veronica writings he composed about how he felt about her. Veronica would send Octavian what she writes as well along with lit events she attend. When together, the conversations (either about beliefs in life or their own personal lives) were always relaxing. On Valentine's Day, the two met up at Chipotles downtown. As soon as they hugged, walked in, and took their seats, Octavian opened up with this idea: "Let's write something together. Something only we know. This can be a symbol of our togetherness no matter what happens." "That's sweet, and creative. Let's do it" Veronica answers happily. For two hours, they focused on nothing but together lines that carried power and passion. Until finally they came up with:
As long as you're in my life, my gift from God is the ability to live by your side. For all of eternity. For the parts of it we see, and don't see.You are my light in the storm.
My safety in danger.
The strength behind my heartbeat.
Your well-being is my well-being.
I am yours.Octavian and Veronica practiced it, and memorized it so much, that Octavian could literally hear his inner voice repeating it for him. While Veronica mistakenly wrote it on a speech she was writing for The Messiah Writers club. They texted the lines to each other, and recited it to each other the next time they met, which was two days later. But after this great accomplishment, they didn't have a name for it. So they discussed it. "Do we have a name for this group piece?" Veronica asked Octavian curiously. He replied: "I believe we don't. Let's come up with a name for it." For 45 minutes, they've came with suggestion after suggestion. Finally they came up with a name for it, The 1 Promise. And they kept it from everyone else. A secret only they knew, which enlightened them both.
