Before the Doves knew it, 2050 was here. They've been married for 22 years, and had no plans of leaving each other or the earth. "It's just us two again" Veronica said calmly to Octavian. "Yeah. It's kind of like our second chance just for the two of us" Octavian replied just as calm. Due to their age, they had gray hair. Veronica only had small streams of it, while Octavian head was near full of it. But what does one expect when they age? They were 50. 2 kids later, they still managed to live as one. Stronger than ever. Veronica retired from Mount Royal Elementary/Middle School after 20 years of teaching. Octavian was still an author, but he didn't write as much as he used to. This being from the reason of him writing 10 best sellers in the country, 4 of them being New York Best Sellers. He also wrote 4 best sellers internationally. He became something he always wanted to be, a writing legend. July 7th, Octavian and Veronica searched for something to do for that day. "I got the perfect idea" Veronica told Octavian excitedly as they were on the couch looking at magazines. "And what is this idea that you have?" Octavian asked with a clear smile on his face. "Let's renew our wedding vows" said Veronica. "After 22 years of marriage, you want to renew vows?" Octavian asked crazily, but he was only playing and he said: "I'm down babe. Let's do it." They hugged, shared a kiss, and started planning. But this time, it was different. They were more relaxed, and less worried. Even from looking at the fact that both of their parents already passed away years ago while they were married. But of course, the friends were on their way. Full support as always. Olive having her husband being the guy of her dreams, and they had three kids. Janet, though she spent years as a nurse, was married to Damien (a man involved in real estate) who was just as kind and real as she was. They however did not have children. Denise had found love with a former high school sweetheart. Ty, who used to use marijuana, called it quits and became a preacher at the Holy Mount Zion Temple. He was also married, and had a son. All of the friends seen each other grow old along with their children growing up. Which the children happily called names like: Uncle Octavian, Aunt Veronica. Uncle Ty, Auntie Janet, 2nd Mother Denise, and Aunt Black Olive. To all the kids, Doug was Old Man Doug, but to King he called him... Dad. When everyone heard of Veronica and Octavian renewing their wedding vows, they brought everyone of past memory back. Octavian's Aunt Pam, who was still alive came. Of course the friends themselves were first in line. But what made it even more memorable, were two more arrivals. It was the Dove's children, Dawn and King. They have returned to see at least one thing their parents did before they were even thought of. Dawn had came with a boyfriend, who've been checked out by the Doves and was free to date her. Dawn and her boyfriend, Emmanuel were near marriage themselves. King had also brought back a friend, Kimberly, who was checked out only by Doug and Veronica. October 11th, the birthday of Octavian's mother (who would've been 83) was also the day the Doves decided to tie down the knot, again. Octavian's best man this time was Doug, and Veronica's maid of honor was Olive. The people who threw the flower petals were two former students of Veronica. "Look at y'all. Just as cute since y'all first met" Janet said out of the crowd. As the Doves looked at the crowd to observe each person that attended. The doctor who delivered their children was able to attend. Octavian's writing teacher was there. Even the guy Veronica used to have feelings before she met Octavian was in the crowd. As the Doves then looked back at each other, Octavian said to Veronica: "Look how far we've come." "This crowd pretty much made up our lives" Veronica said to him. "And it's a great one too" Octavian followed up. "It surely is" Veronica agreed gladly. And before they held hands, their index fingers touched, which symbolized The 1 Promise. "This got is through some tough times" Veronica whispered to Octavian. As he nodded yes, they began.
As long as you're in my life, my gift from God is the ability to live by your side. For all of eternity. For the parts of it we see, and don't seeYou are my light in the storm.
My safety in danger.
The strength behind my heartbeat.
Your well-being is my well-being.
I am yours.
"You know babe, that never gets old" Octavian whispered back to Veronica. She then nods her head in agreement. Then the same preacher who married them years ago was still alive, and he began. This time, he knew to let them continue this time. He asked them both will they take their partner in marriage without condition. They both have the same answer they did the first time they got married, 22 years ago. "Kiss your bride brother" the preacher told Octavian. "On it" he said to the preacher and he raised her veil, and kissed her. But this kiss flashed back to when they first ever met, in Light City. And the memories continued to come as they kept kissing. Finally, after a minute of kissing, they opened their eyes to see the crowd as hyped as they was before. Remember that party they had the next day after their wedding day? Well that was their reception. But this time, they held it the same day of marriage. Everyone talked, were well nourished once more, danced again, and let go like their younger selves. Right before the renewed married partners went home, King asked is he could pull his father to the side to ask him something. "Pops, after all of this time, how did you do it? How were you able to hold on to mom like this?" King asked him. "It's simple. You only need four things: Faith in God, faith in your partner, faith in yourself, and the will to stay still" Octavian told his only son. "Alright pops, thanks" King said as he hugged him. Octavian hugged him back, and whispered in his ear: "You'll understand one day son." And he waved bye to his mother, and the Doves went home. With a Love that changed the whole definition of love, now reborn.
