King would always enjoy going over Doug's house. Sometimes, he enjoyed his staying there so much, that he wouldn't want to leave. So Octavian bribed him, that if he behaved and did well in school, that he could go over Doug's place more often. It worked. His grades were near top of his entire grade, and he learned to discipline himself. But he could still sense misery at home. Octavian could sense it in King without questioning it. So he decided to have a talk with Veronica about it. "Sit down. I want to talk to you" he said to her. She sat down, and listened. "That boy ain't happy here" he told her in a somewhat saddened voice. "Are you sure?" Veronica asked Octavian with worry slowly building within her. "Yeah" Octavian answered while looking away with the sadness slightly now showing on his face as he looked away from Veronica. She then stared at him and asked: "What are you thinking?" Veronica asks him with even more fear from before. His eyes gave her the words to read: "It's time to give him up." She then told him: "No. Not our baby." Octavian then nodded his head yes. "Where would he go?" Veronica asked him scared out of her mind. "I know somewhere" he told her calmly. As the two continued talking, King was eavesdropping heading everything. He lost his train of thought as he listened, and went up to his room. That night, the three sat around their dining room table for dinner. Veronica made baked chicken and macaroni and cheese which both males in the house loved. As they were eating, King stopped eating and looked down. "Something the matter son?" Octavian asked him. "Yeah" King answered with loathe. "I  don't want to live here anymore" King stated and went to his room. Octavian then looked at Veronica, neither one was surprised. "I don't want my boy to be unhappy" Octavian told Veronica in great concern. "Me either" Veronica replied back to him. So the two finished their meal, and Octavian went up to King's room to pack his belongings in his suitcase. "You can leave tomorrow" he told King. The next morning came, King ate breakfast. Octavian asked him his final question he would ever give him.  "You know where you're going to stay with?" "Yes. Uncle Doug" he told his father. "Alright. If you don't remember anything else I've taught you, remember this. A true king fears all that outlives him. Meaning the God and family he serves." "I will pops" King said not automatically understanding what he was told. Like his sister, he'd have to sacrifice years out of his life. But unlike his sister Dawn, he'd have to deal with a lot more loss to understand. He decided to live with Doug. Doug was now in his early fifties. He was gay, so he could not have children on his own. He always desired to be a parent and he visioned King as a son of his own. So when he found out of the news of King's arrival, he was in great acceptance of it. As Octavian and Veronica walked King down and off the porch, King hugged his mother first and held own tight (even though he felt misery in the household, he'd felt closer to her than he did his father). "Bye mother" King said looking up to his mother. Veronica smiled to look down to see his smiling face. Then he looked to his father. "Goodbye son" he told King in a straight face. King gave his father a minor up-down look. Then he ran to hug him with tears in his eyes. Octavian hugged him back, with shedding a tear himself. King then ran to Doug, who thanked Octavian personally. Doug never had a major issue out of King and lived together happily add child and guardian. Both children of the Doves turned out to be successful. Dawn became a psychologist and a technician. King became a carpenter and businessman.
