Astrid

In no time we were all back on Berk, but a two days later both the Twins and Snotlout got sick. Luckly, after a day and a half of medicine and resting they were back to normal in just enough time to go to the Night Before Party.

The party was held in the Academy. It was packed.

There were five long tables in the academy. One filled with food, another filled with meade, and the others left for people to sit on.

The riders and I were talking and laying on the ground with our dragons. Each of us drinking a mug of mead. Usually, I wouldn't drink, but I needed to let go of all the responsibilities, stress, thoughts, feelings, and regret I've been holding back for five years.

I needed to remember who I was before Hiccup left. Then again, Hiccup leaving and all that responsibility on me, helped me shape myself over the last five years.

H: Hey Astrid....

A: Yeah, Heather?

H: I'm thinking that maybe you should lay off the mead.

A: What? Why? This is only my second or third mug!

H: No Astrid, that's your fourth. You're drunk.

A: *laughs* I am not drunk!

F: Oh my Thor. Astrid! You've never drunken this much before!

A: Calm down! I'm not drunk!

G: *laughs* Lassie finally learned how to have a good time?

I pick up my axe, swing it over my head, and point it at Gobber.

A: I've always known how to have a good time!

H: Astrid can you please stop swinging your axe. Your going to hurt someone!

I look up at her, giving her a look that says 'as if that'd happen', and then I notice Toothless behind her.

He became tense, picked his ears, and sniffed the air. There was something out there and I couldn't even walk in a straight enough line to make it to my dragon.

Stormfly looked at me as if she was worried about me, but wanted to go to whatever was out there. Toothless was the first to leave, then Hookfang, and then Barf 'n Belch, leaving Stormfly, windshear, and Meatlug.

What was out there that they wanted?

What was coming our way?

Was it a threat?

Were the dragons leaving?

No matter how drunk I got or how fast the room was spinning, these thoughts entered my mind. Without me being able to do a single thing.

It's like a part of me wanted to break out of my own body and take on all the responsibilities again, but the longer I stayed in the academy, the more that part of me faded. But for some reason, I knew it would come back soon. I just needed a small break from it for  now.

Holding on to the very last shred of responsibility I had, I tried to tell the others what I was noticing, but it was too late. The room started to spin faster, blending the the colors in my vision and now I had no control of what I was doing or where I was going. I was completely helpless.
