Astrid

Then he turns to me, "So you're welcome to stay here until I come back or you can go home, either way, you need your rest."

   I smile and nodded.

He was right, I was exhausted, but I was going to stick around, and try to find the box.

I looked for what seemed like forever and still not a single trace of that box.

"Where did he put it?" I think out loud.

Eventually, I sat down to think, and before I knew it.....I was asleep.

Hiccup

The patrol was quick and simple, but left me tired. Today was the most human activity I've had in weeks.

I land just in front of my hut and noticed that Stormfly was sound asleep on the roof.

Astrid didn't leave...

I bet she stayed back to look for that box.

I beckon for Toothless to follow me and we both head inside.

Toothless, automatically overcome by his curiosity, goes into the different room, sniffing, and sometimes even licking different objects. Then he comes across Astrid, sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall, fast asleep.

At this moment and time, I can't help the small smile tugging at my lips.

She looks so calm and peaceful in her sleep. She doesn't look like she could tear your head off if she wanted to.

I so badly wanted to just throw a blanket over her and let her rest, but if anyone saw that she stayed here over night, in my own house, and on my first night back, rumors would spread across the island like wildfire.

"Hey, hey Astrid..." I say while shaking her, "Astrid c'mon. You got to get up."

"Hiccup??" she asks, eyes still closed.

"Yeah. C'mon you gotta go home and get some sleep." I say while half helping her up, half picking her up.

Once she stands on her own and  is a bit more alert, I hand her the blanket and walk her out to Stormfly.

Before climbing onto Stormfly, she turns back to me, "I'm really glad you're back Hiccup. We all missed you a lot....and sorry for losing it on you earlier."

I smile, "I'm glad to be back and I deserved that."

She returns a smile before taking to the sky.

Astrid

The next morning, I wake up with the sun already shining through my window, the sounds of a bustling village, and the sound of wings beating through the air.

I must have slept in a bit.

I get ready for the day and head out the door. Stormfly greets me right away and I feed her before getting on to go look for the Gang.

It wasn't log before I heard the shout of Hiccup giving out order to the others to do things like, sending the twins to go help repair a few huts from a Monstrous Nightmare accident, sending Fishlegs to go make a list of ingredients Gothi needs, and telling Snotlout to stay and help him with anything Stoick needs.

"Oh!! Look who finally decided to wake up!!" Snotlout greets with undeniable annoyance.

"Snotlout!" Hiccups warns, "We all voted on letting Astrid sleep in."

"Yeah, sleep in!! Not sleep half the day away!!" he shots,, his annoyance growing.

"Well I'm here now. What do you need me to do?" I ask, turning my attention to Hiccup.

"Same thing as Snotlout, I need you to stay here and help me with whatever my dad tells us to do."

I nod and look down to the chief shouting different oders to the villagers.

One day that will be Hiccup.

He'd be the chief no one ever thought he could be.

He'd be the living proof of peace between man and beast.

He'd keep bringing change to Berk.

He'd prove everyone who ever doubted him wrong.

Suddenly, there was a loud explosion, snapping me from my thoughts.
