X OUR TRAGEDY X [Senju Tobirama AU]

Chapter 6

~Tobirama's POV~

"I will be in my room if anybody needs me." I said and left the common room since anija and Mito were only making fun of me for getting rejected by that woman.

I had planned on sleeping to rise early but I found myself awake even hours after everybody had gone to sleep. I could feel the restlessness in my own chakra for reasons that I refused to believe. Niyo was the reason. Her chakra made a big impression and it was hard to forget the raw strength of it before she called it back.

Tch.

I tossed and turned, hoping to get her sad eyes out of my mind, but to no avail. It was not that I could not forget it, it was like they were haunting me after picking me as a target for what happened today. The existence of Morinome came as a shock to me, the identity of the guard came as another surprise and then the chakra contest. All of this was on my mind, simultaneously.

Tired of thinking about the same thing for hours, I left my bed, with my sword, to practice in the back lawn. The night sky was beautiful with the moon shining lighting up the nature around me. I felt the air a little still at this time but dismissed it as an illusion caused by my constant thinking.

The sword practice proved effective as my mind started filtering out the nonsense and replaced it with a fine sense of everything that existed within a specific range. Hours and hours I practiced with the night rising higher and higher until, suddenly, I felt a strong presence. A particular chakra going haywire, like before in the day. And more worrisome than that, it was close to the village gates.

I abandoned practice and ran in the general direction of that mad chakra. It was pure on instinct that I ran, which was very odd for me, however, granted that the village could we in potential danger, I had better followed my instincts.

I easily slipped pass the gates and entered the forest and just before the Morinome territory started, I encountered Niyo, who jumped from the thick trees into the clearing. She hadn't seen me and seemed to be scanning the area thoroughly.

"What happened?!" I asked. This, she did take notice of and for a mere second her guard went down from possibly the surprise of seeing me there. As soon as she had turned her head to me, she turned it back and kicked me aside, deflecting a dozen shuriken with her sword. This was some skill.

Her eyes were once again, fixed on the trees. It was her chakra that I had sensed, leaking in a dangerous amount. I scouted the area with my senses for the intruders since this woman refused to answer me. I looked at her and noticed that she had been running for quite some time. She seems almost out of breath.

What exactly was happening?

"Tobirama, now would be a good time to jump in the battle, its dangerously close to your village!" Niyo shot back at me.

"Hm. You should step aside then, you will only slow me down in your current condition." I answered her and stood so our backs were facing each other. My sensing for the presence had me realize that there were two attackers, with medium and high chakra levels.

"Hn. I can easily keep up with any man. That's why they don't want me."

Before I had the chance to respond to her statement or even comprehend its underlying meanings, another dozen weapons were shot at us. I have to admit, this woman has some skill. She deflected every shuriken and kunai, again.

"Do you know the identity of the attackers?" I asked, hoping she would know.

"I don't have to answer. We are about to find out." I look in her direction after he answer and sure enough there was a silhouette approaching us.
