~Niyo's POV~

It was more peaceful than I had thought. I had been thinking how difficult it would be, and it was, but it was worth it. Hashirama-sama gave me some medicine for the pain and lack of energy and went to get Tobirama. He hadn't been allowed in the room but it was time for him to meet his son.

After bacchan died and Morinome shifted to Konoha, I had one less thing to worry about and I took up the job of helping Tobirama with the women. Time and again we tried for a child but every time something went wrong until finally after five years, I was able to keep the child. Tobirama helped a lot, which shocked everybody who knew him but he couldn't care less about what people thought. I was his main concern the whole time to ensure the safety of the baby. Hell, I gave up my lectures at the academy for the time being to not strain myself unnecessarily.

"How are you feeling?" I was brought out of my chain of thoughts by my husband who took the bundle of warmth and joy from my extended arms.

"Tired, a lot but nothing that I can't get through." I said smiling, not commenting on the tiny droplets pooling at the end of his eyes.

"Thank you."

"Thank you."

"So have you two decided on a name yet? Aaah! He's so cute! Shame he has Tobirama's frown though." Mito-san laughed at the baby's furrowed brows, it was exactly like Tobirama's, she was right. She insisted on staying to help me through the first few months of having a baby like she helped me throughout until the baby was born.

"Well I thought Shiro but Tobirama seems against it for some reason." I mumbled rubbing my back to get rid of the knot there. The baby had white hair so I decided on Shiro although it was plain.

"Then what do you think Tobirama?" Mito-san asked my husband who was pouting in a corner upon the insult to the baby having his frown.

"Yuuri."

"What ji are you using for it?"

"The ji for white lily."

"It's a boy you know..." Mito-san wasn't agreeing with Tobirama but it was a nice name.

"I agree. I like it." I told Tobirama, quite a shock to Mito-san though.

"Ah well, I will love him all the same."

Over a few years Yuuri was growing up too fast and it fell on me to train him as a shinobi since Tobirama was busy with the Hokage stuff, though he did spar occasionally with his son to give him some perspective of the difference in strengths and how strong he needed to become but he was still too young for that.

Varg liked Yuuri, a lot. He often summoned himself just to play with my son. As much as there was joy watching him grow up, I was always anxious of the day that Varg would no longer be there and it was nearing.

"He takes up after you in his approach to me." Varg told me as we were sitting on the grass in the backyard of our house. His head was on my lap and I was stroking his soft fur. He had gotten weaker in a few months.

"Well then I have successfully passed my life to the next generation." I breathed. "Feels closer to the end, no? Having a successor feels like all my work in the world is done."

"What are you babbling? Have you gotten so old as to go senile? Get a grip. Don't die before me." He growled. Varg had been very clear on multiple occasions that I was not to die before him and once in a moment of extreme weakness from a wound he told me that it would have been devastating for him had I been gravely injured with the attack he took for me. Of course he didn't remember it but it just made me sad and strong for his sake.

"We never know when our time will come."

"Until it does, live for your son."

"I will."

"The war is going to begin soon too." I nodded. The second ninja world war was going to begin in a matter of days and maybe it was that knowledge that made me anxious. "Be careful and don't-"

"Don't die before you, I got it Varg, so you stay alive for me too." I buried my face in his fur and sighed knowing his end was near.
