X OUR TRAGEDY X [Senju Tobirama AU]

Chater 27

~

~Niyo's POV~

I sighed once again looking at the basket in my arms filled with herbs. Bacchan was making me do it again. When I sneaked out of my cabin to go late-night walking two days ago, one of the women in-charge knew about it and guess what happened? She told bacchan. So now that bacchan knew about it, instead of scolding me, she devised a plan of having me deliver the herbs to the Senju compound since I was getting well and was "fond of walking" as she put it after getting to know about my two days earlier outing.

It wasn't that I was dreading walking but I didn't want to get held up in any commitments or situations I didn't want to and I knew for a fact that Hashirama-sama would keep me to my promise I made the last time I was here. So my plan was to hand the basket to some random Senju and make a run for it.

The sun had already set by the time I entered the village and upon stating my business was escorted to the Senju compound. All my hopes of running away as quick as possible were immediately crushed when I spotted Hashirama-sama taking a stroll towards the gates. His face lit up like a puppy's when he saw me and increased his pace to meet me a few feet away.

"Niyo-san! Konbanwa!"

"Konbanwa." I replied back with a bow. "Bacchan sent this."

"Thank you, as always."

"There are some vials of snake venom as well, that might be hard to find elsewhere."

"Oooh! Who extracted them?" He asked leading me inside the compound. I tried stopping but it was just not possible with this man.

"I did. It was an easy enough job that I could do without straining myself."

"So I take it you have rested as I told you?" I nodded. He put a hand on his chin to continue. "But Tobirama left his training session in a hurry the other night and I did feel your chakra..." I sighed.

"I was getting tired of just being in my cabin all day so I went for a walk and I guess that triggered the seal you put on me."

"I see, so that's what happened." I nodded again, preparing myself to utter the words that would signal my leave but the Senju had already anticipated my move. He slapped his hand on my shoulder and held me there. "You made a promise last time."

"Maybe another time...? It's already dark out and I have to get back..." I excused but to no avail.

"Nonsense! It's already dinner time so stay and I will have someone escort you back after it." I sighed at the Hokage's persistence.

"Very well-"

"YES!" He put his arm around my shoulder and turned his head to shout in the other direction. "TOBIRAMA! WAKE UP! DINNER TIME!"

I shielded my ears. "He's asleep? At this hour?" I asked before even thinking about it.

"Oh yes. Tobirama takes a few hours' sleep at this time when he is training all night."

"I see-"

"Anija, you are so loud..." I heard complaining from behind us when we were walking down the hall to the dining room. I knew it was the younger brother and I turned around to greet him, as did Hashirama-sama, but the sight made me abandon a greeting and in its place came out a laugh which I immediately hid, a little late though.

Tobirama was standing at the end of the hallway with one of his hands in his hair which were sticking up in all possible directions. He still had sleep in his eyes and I could tell he was not able to keep them open just yet. It was when I uttered a 'konbanwa' that his eyes flew open and his hands quickly went to smooth his hair, followed by his shirt.

"K-konbanwa."

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" Hashirama-sama laughed loudly, adding more to his brother's embarrassment. I tried staying stoic to save face but the way the brown-haired Senju was laughing had me chuckling as well. The two of us were laughing at the second strongest shinobi in this village and the said person was flustered because of his unorganized and rough appearances. It was sort of cute.

The dinner was full of questions for me and sly looks by Mito-san, Hashirama-sama's wife. Actually, both of them were passing me weird looks but I dismissed it all as their teasing because I was sitting beside Tobirama. I didn't mind his being just a foot away from me but it felt sort of...safe.

When it came to saying farewell, Hashirama-sama had Tobirama, of all people, escort me back. I still wasn't a hundred percent so we had to walk all the way back. It was a nice weather with the moon out and light clouds. The air was slightly chill as well.

"Are you able to sleep now?" I was asked, out of the blue.

"Not really...but it's ok." There was silence until a few moments passed and Tobirama spoke again.

"Can I ask a personal question?" I raised my eyebrow and looked at the man. I knew for a fact that he has been meaning to ask something for quite some time because his chakra was slightly disturbed.

"Fire away."

"What is your chakra element that is so dangerous as anija said?"

Hashirama-sama knew of my ninjutsu and pointed out during the dinner that it' was because I had to use it that my wounds were taking some time to heal. The true nature of my chakra was only known to a few in Morinome and Hashirama-sama, nobody else. But, now Tobirama was asking about it. My first thought was to not answer or lie up an excuse but when I took a few seconds to really think about whether I should answer or not, I put everything into the thought process and came to a conclusion and there was no reason to lie or not to answer. Well, his brother knew, he could have asked him but didn't and decided to ask me in person, that amounted to something special for me.

"It's oil."

"Kekkei genkai?"

"Probably. We don't have any information on the Tanogata, just that they are brutes, so I never really found out about my basic elemental chakra..."

"We have some records of your clan in the Senju compound library, you can browse them if you want to."

"Really?" I was surprised. This was a nice gesture.

"Yes."

"Thank you."
