I made it just in time; before the bell rang. I parked my bike, locked it, and headed to my first class. My school's name is New World Academy, and it's one of those schools for super-smart or talented kids. I meet both the criteria of being smart and talented, so passing the entrance exams was no problem. And because my family's rich, I didn't need a scholarship to get in.
Just so you know, while I can take machines apart and put them back together, I'm more of a user than a programmer when it comes to computers. And the only arts they tested me for were the musical instrument kind; meaning they did not ask me to sing or dance. Plus, being the only super-rich kid in school has made me a bit of an outcast with the other modestly rich students besides Ben, Jack, and the twins. To my knowledge, they're the only scholarship students in the academy.
Yes, there are other students whose parents paid for their education, but the only reason the academy keeps those students is because they are smart and talented enough, and well-behaved, to stay in the academy. (New World Academy has zero tolerance for misbehaving and bullying.)
All school textbooks stay inside the classrooms, so there's no need for backpacks. The only things we have to carry are notebooks, laptops, pens and/or pencils in satchels with our school's initials on them. (I don't have a laptop but with my brain and zero social life, I don't need one either.)
Lockers are for gym clothes and, for some students, lunches. The school's lunch isn't expensive, but some students prefer a homemade lunch.
New World Academy is divided into five buildings to signify the five islands. The first one is the science building. The second is math.
(Now that I think about it, science and math are the same building. Science on top, math on the bottom.)
The next building is the tech and history building. The third building is the gym. And the fourth building is where the clubs and after-school activities are: drama club, fashion club, music, choir, glee, etc. Not to mention art, archery, and gymnastics.
(I know at the beginning I said I wanted to join the fighters club, but my grandfather had it disbanded a month before I first started school.)
And the final building is the cafeteria. It's in the center of the other four. It also has a picnic ground for those warm sunny days. But seriously, how often does a tropical island not have warm sunny days?
My classes are in the gym, then the first and second buildings, and the club buildings. I share my first class with Jack. (Our gym uniforms are a white shirt and dark blue or purple short-shorts with red or black shoes; kind of like the colors of an Absol.) Second with Crystal and Jack, third with Ben, and then gymnastics with Melody and Crystal. (I had already completed most of the other classes in those buildings, so I signed up for two PE classes this year.)
Just so you know, drama, glee, and archery are the after-school activities; I'm in Archery. Ben shows up all the time, trying to get me to join the drama club. (My grandfather doesn't know I'm in Archery. He thinks I come straight home after school. And if I join the drama club, I'd have to quit Archery.) I took up Archery to channel my anger and resentment about how I have zero control over my life. (I had a slingshot when I was little, but my grandfather threw it away.)
School ends at four. The after-school activities start between then and, depending on what you signed up for, end at quarter to five or at five. (Archery starts at 4:30 and ends at five.)
My grandfather doesn't come home until after five, so I can get away with my secret, but that's not going to last long. He has his work scheduled at seasonal convenience. This means that after the 17th of May, the usual end of the school year, he'll cut his workload in half and he'll be home by 2 pm.
I'm not worried though. I have a secret way to get to archery without my grandfather noticing I've left the mansion, but I'll tell you about that later. (Just so you know, right now it's the last day of April.)
For a while now, I've had this feeling of helplessness and inadequacy. It got so bad that I couldn't sleep at night. So when this year's school term started, I signed up for gymnastics and chemistry. (Gymnastics for flexibility and maneuverability. Chemistry for smoke bombs and other stuff.)
It helped, but it wasn't enough. So I checked out every book on fighting and every form of fighting I could find. (In other words, I'm a self-taught ninja and martial artist.)
In case you're wondering, lunch comes between my second and third classes. I normally eat what the cafeteria serves, but sometimes I bring a packed lunch and find a secluded corner to eat. Wild Pokemon often make their way onto school property during lunchtime and I'm one of the students that secretly feed them when the teachers aren't looking. (Though I once saw one of the teachers feeding them too.)
*BELL RINGING*
Well, there's the last bell for the day. After I changed out of my gymnastics clothes, they're the same as the gym ones, I headed over to Archery. Thankfully, Ben is taking a personal day so I can pierce targets with my arrows in peace. After that's done, and beating my best score again, I grabbed my bike and headed home.
Remembering what my grandma said about the fighting between the Bug and Grass Pokemon, I take the traffic route home. The traffic route is an extra ten to fifteen-minute ride, depending on the traffic. Today there is a lot of traffic, which added an extra twenty minutes to ride.
After I get home, I change out of my uniform and after a shower, into my white clothes. Honestly, I swear if my hair wasn't so long, I'd look exactly like a Gardevoir; albeit a Shiny one.
(Yes, I know Gardevoir aren't all white, they also have green or blue colors, but they are mostly white.)
It's not that I don't like white, or Gardevoir, I just want to wear other colors I like. And if I'm going to be mistaken for a Pokemon, I'd rather it be a Dark-type. I style my hair like a Zoroark's mane with a blue or yellow bead clip at the end.
Dinner is mostly quiet, just me and my grandfather. Sometimes Jake joins us, but nobody starts a conversation. After dinner, comes homework assignments, if I have any, then I head upstairs to my room, brush my teeth, and go to bed.
All and all, a somewhat lonely life. I'm not unhappy, but I wish I didn't have to sneak out to do things I like. I also wish I wasn't so afraid of my grandfather.
