Living in the Shadows

CHAPTER 9 CAPTURED

(Darkrai)

I flew so fast within the shadows that I nearly missed my target. My frantic search within the ruins of my castle proved fruitless as neither Jenna, Mismagius, nor Malamar were here; not even Kontororu or the Trio.

"AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!" I pounded my fists into the ground before blasting what was left of my home to dust. That was the scene that Scout and the others saw when they appeared thanks to a combined teleportation from Crystal and Riki.

"Are they-?" one of them tried to ask.

"NO!" I screamed at them. "THEY'RE NOT!" Then I went back to blasting brick and mortar, leaving only the gardens alone.

It wasn't long before I was joined by the others in the destruction. We blasted this and that in our anger and frustrations until we were all exhausted.

"When I get my claws on Malamar," Danie growled from her place on the ground.

"Take a number and get in line," Captain Zoroark also growled as she made a fist and punched her paw.

"That monstrous Kontororu and Hell Trio are history!" Yoshi shouted after he unleashed a Dragon Rage into the air.

"Then that just leaves us to handle the bellheads and Mismagius," Scout growled as the others all nodded.

"Nobody is going to handle anyone!" I enunciated without turning to address them. Enough is enough, I've tried and failed to protect Jenna from Malamar, Kontororu, and their minions. It was bad enough that I failed to protect my subjects and countless innocent Pokemon from them.

"What are you saying, Darkrai?" Jake asked.

"All of you are going to stay here," I told him, still not turning around. "I am going to find them alone."

"Sire, you can't-!" Captain Zoroark exclaimed before I interrupted her.

"I can!" I turned around and looked them all in the eye. "And I will!"

With that last word, I sealed them all within a barrier of my making before blending into the shadows and leaving. If Jenna is not here, then there is only one other place that Mismagius could have taken her.

Zoroark and his mom must know something we don't because they, plus Dad and Danie, began attacking that barrier Darkrai trapped us in with a vengeance.

The rest of us were attacking the barrier too; all on different sides. I was poking at it with my psychic powers and sword arms, hoping to find a weak spot somewhere. Being in this barrier reminded me of what happened after we were captured.

*Flashback*

Jack, Cyril, Diane, the twins, my mom and dad, plus the fox siblings were the only ones who didn't get caught inside Mismagius's Trick Room.

Darkrai had just secretly taken my sister away and now there was a mud/rock slide right where she used to be when Mismagius shot that Shadow Ball at her; effectively blocking anyone, save those of us in here, from seeing them blend into the shadows.

Melody was nowhere to be seen but that's not surprising. She had volunteered to hide the boys somewhere up on the other side of the cliff.

I, in my Mega Form, was using Close Combat and trying to break out of this box; so were Ben and Red. (Not the Close Combat, but the Mega Forms.)

Jack and Cyril were battling the Beheeyem while Crystal, Diane, and my mom were battling the Trio. Zoroark was still a little dazed after that explosion and Zorua was helping him up. (Who knew that calling back your Pokemon in this world would cause their Pokeball to explode.)
