CHAPTER 5 SPLITTING UP

It was now my turn to stand watch; Zoroark, Ben, and Jake all had their turns. Darkrai didn't need sleep, his words not mine, so he stayed with us on our shifts. I was worried that with his nightmare ability, everyone here would have a terrible night's sleep. But he said that he can control his ability so no one would have any nightmares tonight, just weird or unusual dreams.

I was looking back at Jenna. She and Jake were sleeping peacefully on either side of their dad. He was too injured to stand watch and Jenna was far too drained to provide him with any medicine until morning.

Ben offered to give her dad some of that nasty-tasting flower nectar, but she, her dad, and Darkrai all said no. Darkrai told us that we would need that nectar in the coming days as we get closer and closer to Dark Castle.

Zoroark was sleeping beside the boys and Zorua was beside Jenna, and Hannah was sleeping nearby with Elgyem in her arms. Ben, the twins, and everyone else were practically sleeping on top of each other.

Princess Diancie and the Carbink left us before the first watch. They said they needed to check on Yveltal and our enemies. And also get something that will help us whenever we Mega Evolve.

"Are you worried her glowing will attract unwanted attention, Jack?"

I nearly gave myself whiplash as I jerked my head to Darkrai. (We all told him to address us by our names without the mister or miss.)

Jenna had removed her cloth so Cresselia could absorb the moonlight from the nearly full moon.

"I was actually watching her mark change," I told him as I rubbed the back of my neck. Jenna's mark was changing from a gold half-moon to a silver full moon. "Maybe tomorrow night, she and Cresselia can finally separate."

Darkrai also looked at Jenna. "I hope so," he said quietly.

After several minutes of silence, Princess Diancie and the Carbink came back. They had these marble size stones with them.

"These are Mega Stones," she told me. "They will help you and your friends whenever you Mega Evolve."

I accepted mine and Darkrai agreed to pass the others to everyone who can Mega Evolve when they wake up. I was hoping that my Mega Stone would prevent me from going crazy whenever I Mega Evolve.

Princess Diancie and the Carbink also told us that aside from being critically drained, Yveltal was fine and will be completely recovered by tomorrow. No word on Absol and the bounty hunters, nor Mismagius, the Beheeyem, and that creepy Malamar; they must have escaped back to Dark Castle. But Dr. Cuckoo and the Trio were wandering around, lost in the tunnels.

However, the Carbink said that they will eventually find their way out, and sadly one of those tunnels leads to where we are.

Luckily we'll all be long gone by then.

The plan is to travel to the nearest village, locate as many of Darkrai's free-minded guards and generals as we can, and rescue the imprisoned Pokemon in Dark Castle; not to mention Jenna's mom and grandfather. Then take back the castle by defeating Malamar, after that Darkness thing is exorcised from him and all those crystals are destroyed. (Jenna and Darkrai both told us about that.)

In the meantime, Princess Diancie and the Carbink were going to sneak some sort of diamond dust into the Reikon Crystal carts. The Reikon Crystals are what's preventing Darkrai from shadow jumping anywhere and shadow spying on anything in his own kingdom. It's one of the things that are also stopping every Dark and half Dark-type in his kingdom from fighting back against Malamar. They're also what's making the Psychic and Fairy-type Pokemon like Malamar, Jake, the twins, Hannah, Red, and Jenna stronger.
