(Jenna)

It was just after six when the wake-up call came. The sun had already risen when we all went down to breakfast; each team at their own table.

(I know I said that the Island Relay starts before dawn, but with the flooding and Kontororu. . . . They told us last night that the relay would start after seven; with a few changes here and there besides no Tech Course.)

"You look tired, Jenna," Melody commented.

I just grunted in answer and then yawned.

"You couldn't have had nightmares last night," Red added. "The Pokemon Center has Lunar Wings." (Yeah, I forgot about that.) "So, why are you so tired?"

"Insomnia." was my simple reply before I yawned again.

I'm sorry, Jenna. Cresselia said. This is kind of my fault.

How?

Just like Darkrai, I don't need to sleep at night and it's starting to affect you.

Swell. I yawned again as I got sympathetic looks from everyone at our table. It's a good thing I got coffee with my breakfast.

"Maybe you'll get lucky and be on the second team," Jack offered. "That way you can catch a few more hours of shuteye."

"Thaaaanks," I said in mid-yawn.

"Alright, everyone!" Head Nurse Joy announced. "The judges will be here momentarily to tell you the rules and then we can select the Pokemon for each team!"

(Good thing we all were wearing our uniforms for the Island Relay before we came down to breakfast, otherwise no one would have had time to change and be here for the judges. And just so you know, I have my hair up in its customary high ponytail with a large yellow bead at the end.)

Then the Mayor stepped up and addressed us. "As you all know," she began. "The rains have caused substantial flooding. Not just on New World Island, but on all the surrounding islands too. And with the damage Dr. Kontororu did, New World got the worst of it.

"An hour ago," she continued. "I received a report from the engineers at the flood gates, stating that all the floodwaters have gone down and all the flooded areas are now flood-free. Minus the rivers and lakes. I will now turn the stage over to the Relay Judges." Then she stepped aside for Mrs. Tao and the headmasters and mistresses of the other academies.

"As you all know," Sinnoh Island's headmaster began. "That nasty business with Dr. Kontororu has caused a unanimous vote to cancel the Tech Course of the Island Relay obstacles. Not to mention a swift removal of all the technical machines brought to us by Kontororu himself."

"Aww. I would have had fun blowing up those machines," I whispered as I smiled.

"You and me both," Jack agreed with a smile of his own.

Amidst the chuckles at our table, Head Nurse Joy cleared her throat and we went back to paying attention to Sinnoh Island's headmaster.

"There are more changes to this year's relay than no Tech Course," he continued. "Due to early rains and areas that are still flooded on the other islands, there will be no boat racing. And instead of the second half of the teams waiting at the finish lines at the end of each island, they will be waiting at the halfway points.
