This way of telling the time is simple, and is also the method the French would use.
The numbers go from 1-24 heures, so there are no words to distinguish between am and pm. The 24 hour clock in French is basically written the way we'd see it on a digital clock.
As for the minutes, they go from 1 to 59, with no words in between.
Examples:
It is 2:56 pm- Il est quatorze heures cinquante-six
It is 4:35 am- Il est quatre heures trente-cinq
However, the French do not use a colon in written times. Instead they do:
Number-h-minute
