These are the words for: this/ that/ those/ these.
There are four words in French:
》Ce- this/ that- used with masculine nouns e.g. ce garçon- this/ that boy
》Cet- this/ that- used with masculine nouns beginning with a vowel cet homme- this/ that man
》Cette- this/ that- used with all feminine nouns e.g. cette femme- this/ that woman
》Ces- these/ those- used with all plural nouns e.g. ces hommes, ces femmes- those/ these men/ women
However, if you say 'ce livre,' for example, you have no idea if you're saying 'this' or 'that' book. So:
》Add -ci to say that/ those (after the noun)
》Add -là to say this/ these (after the noun)
Example: Je veux ce livre-ci et ce livre-là mais je ne veux pas ces livres-là- I want this book and that book but I don't want those books.
