"S-sans, i-its all up to h-him now. I c-can't do m-much m-more. He h-have to w-wake up on h-his own," Alphys said.
I hold his hand tightly, and bring it up close to my face. I leaned my cheek against it.
"I see. Thank you for your help, Alphys," I said in my raspy voice.
I didn't even look at her. It's because I don't bother to even try to.
"W-we w-will be t-taking our l-leave," she said politely.
"Yea, sure... Bye."
I heard mumbling in the background. Honestly, nothing really bother me at this point. Then I felt someone tapped on my shoulder.
"Dude, take a rest. You look horrible. I don't think he wants to see you in that state when he wakes up," a female voice said.
"Undyne, I need to be there for him," I growled.
"If you going to be there for him, who is going to be there for you?"
"No one. I don't deserve any care,"
She turned me around and grabbed me by the shoulders.
"Look, Punk. You didn't know that the brakes were malfunctioning so stop blaming yourself!"
"Yea, if only I had a checked the brakes before we had-"
"If you and Papyrus had switched roles, and you were in a coma, do you really want him to feel guilty?"
That question struck me. It was the same as the second timeline. Only it was the opposite. Is this how Papyrus felt during that accident? Seeing him blaming himself for everything... Makes my heart broke.
I hung my head low.
"Of course you don't and I'm pretty sure he doesn't want you to be either. Take a shower and eat some food. Then you can continue from there," she looked behind her and faced me again, "I gotta go. I will check on you guys when I have the time. Meanwhile, please take care of your health."
When she was about to leave with Alphys, I spoke without looking at her, "Thank you Undyne."
"I'm just knocking some sense in ya," she replied.
With that, she left with Alphys.
I stared blankly at Papyrus. His ribcage was rising up and falling back.
I know I shouldn't feel like I'm in the fault here but I can't help to feel that way. I told myself that I wanted to protect us, specifically Papyrus, but I can't even protect him from my own hands. I was deeply disappointed in myself.
"Paps!"
He was lying there, with his head cracked. Blood gushing out from there. I tried running towards him, but my fractured leg snapped into two. I screamed in pain and hissed afterwards but nothing will stop me from getting to him. I crawled towards him. When I finally got to him, I placed his head gently on my lap. I took off my jacket and wrapped it around his head tightly, so it would prevent it from bleeding out.
"GERSON, HELP!" I shouted.
Gerson came running into the scene.
"Oh dear Asgore, what happened here?!"
"I can't explain now, just get him to a safer place. I need to call Alphys," I said frantically.
"How about you?! Your leg is broken!"
"Papyrus is in a more worse condition than I am, just get him to a safer place please!".
Gerson clearly didn't know what to say, but he just nodded. He carried Papyrus behind his back and went to his shop.
