A/N: WHOOPS, ya girl was stupid and saved this chapter as a draft instead of uploading it. I mean whaaat? I didn't do anything of the sort... Idk what you're talking about...
Y/n's POV
My eyes fluttered open and adjusted to the bright sunrays pouring through the open window of the living room. I took a deep breath inhaling the scents of summer. I could smell freshly cut grass and the smell of citrus wafting in from our orange tree in the front yard.
I looked around me and the guys were all still asleep. The TV screen was still lit up with the game of Asteroids that Lucas was playing late last night. I slowly got up, not really concerned with my back, but more so with not waking Dustin up.
Suddenly I heard static.
I look at the TV as it was now basking in a black and white screen that ever so slightly waved in sync with the sound of static. That's weird... I started towards the kitchen figuring I'd make some breakfast but something feels just...
Off...
That's when I noticed it.
My surroundings morphed more and more into that dreaded place I now know as the pitch black dimension of communication.
With every blink it became more and more realistic.
More and more frightening.
More and more confusing.
I was surrounded by the kind of darkness that makes your insides twist and want to escape from your body just to hide or find the smallest glimmer of light. I tried to not blink in hopes that the world would reverse back into my sight but, the air was so cold it forced my eyes to blink in hopes of protecting themselves against their own spell of dryness.
I began walking forward into the pitch black around me. I can still hear the static from the TV but it's as if I'm the only thing here. I began to turn around in slow circles. Maybe something will appear? But then again I didn't know if I wanted anything to appear.
I closed my eyes, sighed and wondered if I would see the Demogorgon or El. I think part of me wished to talk to El just to get to know her better but, how will I find her? I took a slim chance and began to yell into the darkness.
"El! If you're out there, can we talk? I want to find you but I don't know where to begin."
Nothing. I knew it wouldn't work. But why am I here then?
I grew slightly frustrated and the only thing I could focus on was the static noise swarming my head. I breathed in and out and tried to force an image of El into my head to drown out the static.
"How?"
I gasped as I heard a voice from behind me.
"El?"
I opened my eyes and stared at the girl who now stood in front of me. She was looking at me with her eyes a bit wider than normal.
"How what?"
"You called me- I- I heard. How? Powers?"
"Wh- what? I don't have powers like you. I'm about as average as you can get."
"Try to think of something. Something you want to see."
I looked at El with a confused expression. What's going on? Why would she want me to do that?
"Uhm...ok?"
What do I want? Well, I guess I want to know where El is. Suddenly when I turned to look back at El, I could tell we were inside a cabin. The cabin appeared to fill the void of darkness.
"You can see what you want. That's your power."
"That's ridiculous. I don't have powers."
She shook her head and said, "They're weak, but there."
"There's no way that's possible. I've never had powers in my life."
She stared at me. No wait, cross that out. She glared at me.
"I-"
"You have them whether or not you believe."
"I don't understand. Why would I suddenly have powers?" I thought for a second and began to rant. "Wait, what if my 'so-called powers' are the reason behind my visions? What if I don't want to be scared by them anymore? Huh? Will they ever go away, because I can't live my life in fear of sleeping just because a crazy monster lurks in them constantly and pitch black surrounds me! No wait, sorry, suffocates me!"
El looked at me with a blank expression. I'm not sure what I'm feeling right now. Yes, powers would be cool but, I've already been through so much. What are they gonna cost me?
"Find me."
"What?"
"I said, find me."
I blink and El's gone. The outside of the cabin replacing where she stood.
How the hell does she want me to find her?
Oh. Wait. I have powers now. Pfft, yea right. Like that'll work.
The darkness around me began to fade and I felt myself returning to reality. I heard a muffled voice breaking through to me.
"Hey kid! How did you find this property? Never mind, I don't want to know. Just- get lost before I arrest you for trespassing!"
Before the darkness disappeared as light overpowered it, I caught a glimpse of El staring out the window of the cabin. I blinked a few times, I could tell it's getting brighter. Ah, I'm waking up. But, what caught me off guard was the unfamiliar voice and the fact that I found myself face to face with a man in a sheriff's uniform.
I swallowed and stumbled over my words trying to apologize when I realized I was in the middle of the forest. What the hell? How did I get out here? That's when my eyes saw it.
The cabin.
"El..." I whispered.
sorry if this is kind of a confusing chapter??
