I had a lot to look forward to as my family packed up everything and made the move to Hawkins from (y/hometown). I was upset to leave the friends and memories of my past behind but I was excited to embark on a new adventure in life. Well, that and I had to move here for my health...
I was a participating subject that would receive a trial surgery in attempts to fix my spinal curve from scoliosis. Supposedly this 'innovative', new surgery would leave my days of wearing a bulky back brace in the past and allow me to life a semi-normal life.
Well, except for the fact that I would have 2 rods and 20 screws fused to my spine to keep it straight...
I guess we'll find out if it works by Friday. These next 2 days will be torturous as I noticed how anxious I was getting.
"Here we are! Welcome to our new home." my mom exclaimed momentarily shoving any sign of my anxiousness away.
"It seems...cozy?" my 17 year old sister Belle remarked.
I nodded in agreement as I stood in our freshly cut lawn, stretching my legs from being crammed in a car for hours. I guess I could get used to it...
"Race ya to find a room y/n!"
"Oh no you don't!" I broke into a sprint. We happened to reach the front door at the same time, shoving each other to get through the white doorframe and stumbling over each other in a race to get up the stairs.
Belle ran to her left as she somehow managed to pass me and I chased after her eager to see which room I would be proud to call my own.
"Dibs on this room!" Belle shrieked with glee as she looked attentively to the walk-in closet. Typical Belle, I rolled my eyes, she had always been so focused on her appearance that it even controlled her everyday life. Don't get me wrong, she has amazing taste in clothes and everything beauty, but I think she looks prettiest in her natural state.
I trudged across the hall to see what was in store for me behind the door of my new room. I was actually a bit nervous as I placed my hand on the brass doorknob looming in front of me. Ok let's get this over with, it's just a room. I squeezed my eyes shut as I turned the knob and stepped in. I slowly opened my eyes and was shocked at the sight.
"SCORE!" I yelled and Belle sauntered in.
I screamed "Dibs!" as she walked in just in case she had any tricks up her sleeves.
Belle glanced around the room and noticed the large window seat with a decent view of the streets below.

" I can see it now Belle! It's a Saturday morning, I'm all snuggled up with a blanket in my window seat sketching to my heart's content!" I swooned over my new happy place as my sister rolled her eyes said, "Hmph" and walked out the room with arms crossed.
Was that... a glimpse of...jealousy in her eyes?!
For once, I didn't get the short end of the stick!
Dustin's POV
"BYE MOM I'LL BE AT MIKE'S" I yelled from the doorway of my house, the guys and I have planned another D & D campaign. I wondered if this one would last 10 hours like the last one or not.
I was climbing over the seat of my bike getting ready to leave when I heard the purr of an idle car stop and new noise of chatter bursting from the now open doors. I watched as across the street four people and a tiny dog climbed out stretching in the morning sun.
Hmmm must be the new neighbor my mom was mentioning earlier. I can already tell one of the girls looks about Nancy's age but I'm not sure about the other. Maybe...wait, no...hopefully she's my age and can join the party! But what would the guys say to the concept of a girl other than El joining the party? Mike will probably be a jerk about it since he's upset that El is still gone.
My thoughts were interrupted as I heard the girls yelling and racing to get inside. I stifled a small laugh and smiled.
I'll introduce my self later, I'm sure my mom will need me to bring over her famous 'house-warming cookies' as she did with every new neighbor she meets. I better get to Mike's.
