Chapter 27: Watching

Mike's POV

I got up from the chair at y/n's house and slowly crept to the front door making sure not to wake anyone up in the house. After I safely made it outside I jumped on my bike and started heading toward Maple Street by the edge of the forest. I got there pretty quickly and saw the outline of y/n walking towards me. She smiled and waved at me as she jogged across the street and got onto the back of my bike.

"Nice one, how'd you sleepwalk all the way out here?"

"Uhm good question, I'm not exactly sure."

"Ok well let's go back to your house before the guys wake up"

Y/n's POV

Mike took his foot off the ground and started pedaling as I wrapped my arms around his waist. I'd hate to fall off especially with my back already so sore, I shouldn't even be out of my house right now.

We started off heading down the block but something felt off. I looked behind me as my gut told me we were being watched and I saw a man in all black walking out of the forest with something in his hand. It looked like some kind of device maybe?

Whatever it was, it didn't hold his attention long as he looked up at us and gave the creepiest smirk I've ever laid eyes on. A shiver went down my spine as I stammered out, "Mike pedal faster."

"Huh-"

"Go. Faster." I emphasized sternly.

Mike could tell something wasn't right as he pedaled at higher intensity and we found ourselves back at my house in a matter of minutes.

"Hide the bikes in my garage, quick!"

Mike and I wheeled all our bikes into my garage and quickly closed the door. We hustled into my house and went to close the blinds a bit more. After I had finished doing so, I peered out the window. A minute later a black car drove slowly by my house and stopped for a second before speeding away down the street.

"What's going on" Mike whispered.

I gasped not realizing he had been watching out the window with me.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you"

"It's ok. I'm not sure what's happening, I've never seen that man before but he knows we're here. What do you think he wants?"

"I'm not sure, but I have a feeling it's not good."

We stare at each other with fear and my heart beats faster. What did I just get myself into?
