Chapter 20: Ok This is Rad

Y/n's POV

Its been 7.

Long.

Hours.

I asked my mom if the guys could sleepover at our house and to my complete and utter surprise she actually agreed to it.

Back before I moved to Hawkins she wouldn't even let a boy within a 15 feet radius of our house. I did however get a strict, 'No funny business and your door stays open' talk. Yet, of course that could only be embarrassingly done in front of ALL 4 guys in my room while both their cheeks and my cheeks are burning bright red with every word.

I quickly agreed to her terms and ushered her away before she changed her mind or said anything else and all the boys called their moms to ask permission. They all agreed on the terms that they swing by to drop off what they need so they could meet my mother and I.

As of right now, I've met all their mothers, my mom had coffee and lunch with them, and the guys and I have been in a dungeons and dragons campaign for 7 hours now.

The first few hours were dedicated to creating my character's background. It actually went smoothly and somewhat quicker than normal according to the guys.

Frankly, I'm surprised to have stayed awake for the whole day. Seeing as I was still a bit loopy from my pain meds.

I yawned and I guess I looked pretty wiped out because Dustin turned to look at me, reached his hand to rest on mine and said,

"Hey, don't overdo it. We can stop playing if you need your rest."

"Aw Dustin, you're too sweet." I said as I saw his face get a bit red and he moved his hand away. Wait, did I just say that in front of all them? "I'm just a little out of it from the pain meds."

I lowered my voice and said, "Honestly, I can't remember if my character is a gnome or a dwarf."

The guys laughed at me and said, "Ok, wow so your character is neither of those..."

Dustin leaned over and said, "I'll let you in on a secret. You're an elf."

"I'm an...elf? What the heck are we even playing?"

Dustin snickered and said, "Alright. Shall we pick up tomorrow everyone?"

"YES. PLEASE." I say as the guys laugh at me.

"This game hurts my brain. Like, seriously have you guys ever heard of an Atari? Now that's MY type of game."

"You've played Atari?" They all asked in unison.

"More like, I have an Atari."

"No way."

"Way."

"Well, why are we not playing that?" Will practically shouts.

"I don't know? Here follow me." I said as I slowly tried to get out of the chair I was sitting in.

Without even looking up from her newspaper my mom said, "Nuh uh Missy. Did you really think I wouldn't see you? I told you to call me over if you needed to go anywhere."

I sighed but cracked a smile, "Ok mom, may you please help me to the game room?"

"Oh, of course sweetie!" She practically jumped out of her chair to come over to where I was sitting in the dining room.
