Lance was walking down the Galran hallway when he was suddenly slammed against the wall. He looked to see a hooded figure with a blade to his throat. "Where is your mate?" the man asked in a raspy, metallic, robotic voice.
"My what? I'm sorry, but I don't have a mate? Do you have the wrong person?"
"No. you are Lance McClain, sharpshooter of Lord Lotor's generals and his mate. Where is he?"
"I'm sorry, but I'm not his mate! I'm a paladin of Voltron! Please release me! I just want to go home!"
"You are not a paladin of Voltron. You were exiled long ago. You are of no use to me." the strange man then turned into a giant crab with lightning and loafers and walked away.
Lance woke up a few moments later to a familiar smell. He sat up and immediately noticed his surroundings. He was in a very lush, large bed, clearly larger than a Californian king. The bed itself was inset into the floor, and it had curtains around the sides. Then he looked over and saw a window with a large cushioned loveseat. In front of the bed was a large sofa, with a small table next to it. The wall to his right was covered in books, most in foreign languages. Then there was a door that had been left slightly ajar.
The brunette went over to inspect when he found that the source of the familiar smell came from within. When he opened to door, he was presented with a bathroom. It had two sinks on the far and right walls, each with a large counter top made of a material that lance could only call a baby blue colored marble with hints of pink. Between the two sinks was a large Jacuzzi style bath, large enough to fit two people. Next to the bedroom door were three closets, two walk in, and one towel. Beside the closets was a single glass walled shower, complete with a delicate metal tray to hold shampoo. "Lo'Toréal? Is this some off brand L'Oréal?"
""I am not quite sure what L'Oréal is, but this is soap from the planet Earth, I figured you may find comfort in the smell, seeing as you would likely be on edge after everything that has happened."
Lance had been so enthralled by the beauty of the room that he failed to notice Lotor step out of the shower. The 17 year-old male went a dusty shade of red over his tan skin, something the prince did not fail to note.
"I take it you slept well?"
"No, I had a nightmare. How long have I been out?" Lance had no idea why, but for some reason Lance felt as if he could trust the prince, as if he could spill everything to him.
"That is quite a pity. I hope that you get better sleep soon. Anyways, it has only been a quintaint and a half, my beauty sleeping." The prince flashed a toothy grin at the human who deadpanned, and then pointed a finger accusingly at the prince.
"It is sleeping beauty not beauty sleeping! Do you understand?' the now frightened prince gave a curt nod to show his understanding "now how do you know of this fairy tale?"
The prince looked at lance thoughtfully before instructing the human to follow him, where the paladin was then shown a small section of the book case, which Lance was pleasantly surprised to find was in English (with a few Spanish sprinkled in), and the prince pulled out a small hardcover titled, 'Sleeping Beauty' and lance just set it aside and looked through the books, seeing classics and his favorites. Titles like Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy; The Last Unicorn; Palace of Mirrors; Magic Kingdom, Fore Sale, Sold; the entire Black Stallion series, and many titles of Mercedes Lackey. "How did you get these?" Few people knew this, but Lance loved Fantasy. He felt a sudden surge of relief flood over him.
"As I travel the universe, I enjoy collecting books, trinkets, movies, and even technology to remember the planets by. It helps me remember these places I've visited. It helps me feel a special collection to these places and those people."
"That's amazing." Lance breathed, afraid his loud voice would startle him from this obvious dream, that he'd wake up in a torture chamber any tick now. But he never woke up, and the dream continued on.
"Do you see any you like?" The prince had moved next to him, and was gesturing to the books.
Lance lightly grazed his finger over the spine of his favorite, Dragon Riders of Pern. "Yes" He lightly whispered.
"Take them, I've already read them all. Enjoy them. They're yours." The prince's words stuck a place deep in Lances Heart, and he turned around and did something he never thought he would do, until this moment. He hugged Prince Lotor, son of Emperor Zarkon, and Rightful Heir to the throne of the known Universe. "Thank you, Lotor. Thank you so much."
