  Chapter 14

Up in the sky, then back down to earth.

I could see the whole academy ground from here. The main building with the cafeteria and library, all the dorm buildings, the class rooms, the nurses building, the beach with the dock, the head building with the office and the most beautiful sight the rising sun over the horizon behind me. I felt Alex's grip on my hand tighten. I looked at him. He smiled. "Over there." He indicated a dorm on the opposite side of the grounds from mine "is my dorm. I'm the only one in it because no one wants to room with a mixblood." He said the name with such anger i didn't know he had it in him. I smiled and took his other hand. It felt as if we were being held up by invisible jets. We floated there watching the sun come up and the academy spring to life. People were going to the beach, to friends dorms and some even into the woods around there dorms. I saw the unmistakable red hair of Carmen and lowered me and Alex until we landed on the ground right behind her "hey Carmen." She screamed and spun around, clearly startled. "How the heck did you get behind me?" I looked at Alex. He was smiling and still holding my hand. "Oh you two are together now." Carmen said "now tell me how you got behind me." I laughed "you wont believe me, but i flew here." She glared at me clearly annoyed. "Ha ha funny. Now howed you get behind me?" She said, i then replayed "I'm serious Carmen watch." I did the same process of imagining me hovering over Carmen. I rose up and Carmen squealed "what the hell!?!" I laughed and landed "OK" she said then continued "now that I'mthoroughly creeped out, happy birthday, you too Alex." She hugged me, and nodded at Alex. "Come to my dorm tonight at seven, Alex you come too. Its number 77. Just come right in. I wont care." I smiled at her. "OK see you then." Carmen hugged me again and skipped away, her hair jumping around. I tuned to Alex "wanna go some were, the beach?" He smiled his crooked smile "OK lets go to the beach, but not the one down there. Meet me at the clearing in ten, with your bathing suit and towel. Put the towel in your bag." He kissed me then left. I hovered a few feet off the ground on my way back to my room. I hadn't slept at all since last night, but i wasn't tired at all. When i stepped into my room Rebecca was right in front of me, but it didn't startle me. "Wanna tell me were you have been?" She questioned "nope, im good." I said pushing past her to get ready. "Let me guess" she paused " you were with Alex, and you are going out with him again, oh and happy birthday." I finished changing "yep, yep, and thank you." I shoved my towel and the silver bracelet i had bought for Alex into my bag and left out the back door, "later Rebecca." I headed out into the forest. Once i got to the clearing Alex was there. He had a couple bags with him. "You ready? You will have to carry your bag in your mouth. We are going to be wolves." I nodded and changed. Every time i changed into a wolf i felt the strange ripples pass through me. I picked up the strap of my bag delicately in between my teeth. Alex changed too, and we were off. I was fallowing him, he was clearly the alpha of our two person pack.
