 Chapter 19

  Kraft Dinner

As the sun began to set i suddenly became exhausted. Alex lifted me up and piggy backed me to the SNPA grounds. He started to put me down but i shook me head. I didn't want to be away from him. So he came to my dorm. We curled up on the couch. I heard Rebecca come in, she saw us but said nothing. I heard Alex's breathing slow. I matched his breath and i soon dozed off. When i awoke i felt soar all over. The sun had risen high into the sky by now. So i guessed it was past noon. I felt something stir beside me and i jumped up. Then i saw Alex gazing at me in bewilderment. "You startled me." I had been smiling but then a shrike reminded me that Carmen was in pain. I slumped back down on the couch. I thought that maby classes might cheer me up, it was Monday after all. "We are late for class Alex com on." Alex sat me back down "no we aren't Vee, school has been canceled after yesterdays events." I made a silent "oh" with my mouth. I went to my kitchen, suddenly hungry. There was a note from Rebecca saying to give me some space she was at a friends dorm. I rummaged through the cupboards and fridge. I finally settled for making some craft dinner. I offer a bowl to Alex. He took it and we sat side by side on the couch, eating. I heard another shrike, told Alex i was having a shower and went and had one. The hot water drummed down onto my hair as i washed up. The reason i was showering is because you cant tell someone is crying when there is water on them. I was crying because of Carmen. I know i had cried a Lot last night bet it seemed a fresh amount of tears had arrived. When i finished my hair, i got out of the shower and got changed clothes. I went back to the living room and curled up in Alex's arms. I decided i wanted to go visit her. I got up and pulled Alex up "lets go visit her, Carmen. I want to see her." Alex looked at me, the look said, "is it really a good idea?", i didn't know if it was. We headed out, we stopped at Alex's dorm so he could change and Alex took my hand and we headed to the nurses building. When we reached the porch of the nurses building, we saw Dr. Finneck sitting on the steps. "Hey, shouldn't you be looking after Carmen?" I demanded. He shook his head and said "we cant do any thing else for her. We can only wait and see. You can go see her, if you want." I nodded and lead me and Alex in. When we reached her bed i stared. Carmen had grown pale, skinny and dull. Her eyes were closed, and her hands were shaking. I grabbed her hand and sat down on the chair. Her hand was cold as ice. Alex stood behind me, hands on my shoulders. "Oh Carmen, if i ever meet Reachel again, i will make her pay for what she's done." I said it with all the anger i posses. Alex said "calm down, i know your mad at her, but getting angry wont help. Trust me if we do ever meet her again, we will both have scores to settle." I stood up, "Alex, stay here i want to talk to Dr. Finneck." I left with out any explanation.
