Chapter 2: "Hang Out" or Date?

After eating lunch, I unplugged my phone from its charger and I had gotten a text from Hayes: 30 minutes ago... oops
Hayes 😍💋: Meet me in front of my neighborhood in an hour. Bring your penny board!
I laughed at the emojis he put as I read the text since I did the same thing on his phone. I ran to my room to change and decided to wear a dress just because. I put on a white sleeveless dress that's covered in hot pinkish colored flowers. I picked out plain tan flats and a hot pink bow. I put on pearl earrings and I brought my backpack along too (In image on side along with clothes) I had to rush since I only had 30 minutes to get ready, so I put on my makeup and realized I forgot to text him back, so I ran over to my phone.
Hayes' POV:
It's been awhile since I texted her, I wonder if she's going to text back.
Lacey 👑😍: Yo, about to leave see ya later 😉😉
I grabbed my board and rode over to the front of my neighborhood. After about 5 minutes, I saw Lacey and waved. She waved back which caused her to almost fall. I let out a small chuckle. She rode over and we decided to go to the pet store across the street.
It took us like 5 minutes to get there since it was practically across the street. I put our boards by the door and told the cashier to watch over them. First we took a quick look at the at the puppies since they were on the same side of the store we were on. We walked through isles and lanes of doggie beds and dog foods.
"OOOOH PUPPIES THEY"RE SO CUUUUTE!" she squealed looking at the baby dogs and picking them up. She handed me a small Yorki and then grabbed another puppy.
"Aren't they cuute Hayes" She said her voice getting higher.
"Hey I'm going to the bathroom I'll meet you up in the bunny section" I said
"Suree" she said.
I had planned to scare her with a bunny. I grabbed a bunny and waited for her to go down the bunny food isle.
"BOO!" I said as I snuck behind her, she jumped which made me laugh my butt off.
"HAY- BUUUUNNNNYYY" she screamed starting with a death stare that turned into a cute animal stare.
We continued towards the bunny section and the worker lady gave us some carrots to feed them. We decided to check out the fish, and then the reptiles.
"Hello Fishy" she said her face smashed onto the glass looking at the rainbow fish
"Lace, come look at this one!" I said pointing at the lion fish
"it's ugly" She joked giggling
"Let's go look at the turtles" I said
"Are there any blue turtles?" I asked the worker as Lacey started cracking up
"Umm... no" He said
"Oh okay," I said walking back to the turtle tanks
"I don't think turtles are blue" She told me laughing
"Whatever" I said
We then went over to the iguanas and lizards.
"They're weirder than the fish over there omg" She said laughing
"They are pretty weird, why would you buy one of these?" I commented
"I dont even know." She said squinting her eyes and scrunching her nose.
"Should we go eat now?" I asked
"Sure" she responded
We got kind of hungry so after we decided to go to Taco Bell to eat since she said it was her favorite. We rode over which took like 10 minutes and by then it was 4:00.
"Can I have a Nachos Bell Grande please?" She said as the cashier worker typed it into the electronic cash register thing
"And you?" The lady said
"Oh yeah and um can I have a triple steak burrito please?" I said as we walked to a table to sit.
"So what's up!" Lacey asked probably bored to death.
"Nothing much, hey um, I heard there's a carnival coming to town, would you wanna go?" I asked as she sat silently thinking.
"Umm... sure I guess that'd be fun, oh foods here I'll bring it over!" she said walking to get the food. She came back and I decided to ask her out later. We ate our food and talked about our lives. We are really alike. Same birthday, same sibling (agewise) same birth order, same shoe size, we are almost twins. Almost though, I'm still a lot taller than her, which is fun to tease her about.
"I'll walk.. or ride you home I guess" I said hoping to ask her out when at her house.
We rode back and I gained the courage to ask her. We got to her house and right before ringing the doorbell I decided to ask her out.
"Do you wanna go out, on a date? Maybe tomorrow to that carnival?" I said waiting for her answer
