Chapter 14: Back To School Pt. 2

Lacey's POV:

"Shut it Georgina, she's a nice girl" Hayes defended as I smiled knowing he was by my side.

"Thank you" I whisphered so that only Hayes could hear. 

"Whatever, why would you date someone who tried to kill herself anyways Hayes, you deserve better, you deserve me" She said putting a finger on Hayes' chest.

"Back off Georgina, I'm dating Lacey because I like her" He said as I smiled, probably blushing

"Well, I like you, so maybe we should get together sometime. I've got to go, but here's an invitation to my party on Saturday" Georgina said handing an invite to everyone except for me. She walked away and blew a few kisses to Hayes as he continued eating not seeing them.

"Okay then" I said awkwardly

"So, Lacey, tryouts are on Friday, you should try out" Simone said

"YES TRY OUT PLEASE" Marissa said with a mouth full of food.

"But I have dance practice after school" I said hoping it was an okay excuse.

"Use your PE period to practice come one it'll be fun all the girls do it" Simone said as I now knew why Georgina was in PE.

"Fine I'll try out, but I'm not going to get in" I said stubbornly

Friday, Cheer Tryouts

"Come on girls! Line up!" Coach Erica said to the 20 to 35 girls that were there. She was average height for a teacher and very fit. She wore what was probably a custom made shirt and some athletic shorts all in the school colors (red,white). Her golden hair was in a ponytail with a large bow on top where it was tied. She looked really young, like late 20s or early 30s. She gave us all sheets with numbers on them, luckily for me I was number 7, my lucky number. 

"Sadly, only 16 of you can be on the squad so try your best!" She said

"This is how it's going to go. These girls are going to be teaching you a simple cheer routine, you will do it, then we will call you up in small groups to do tumbling and jumps!" She said very loudly and confidently. I liked this lady.

There were older cheerleaders in the front, teaching us the routine. They had uniforms on already, I guess they were on the team for their school.

The routine was easy for me, harder for some girls. After about 20 mins of learning the routine, they called a break. 

"Let's go tumble Georgina!" Megan, one of Georgina's friends said as they ran to the mats and started to show off.

"Look at my back handspring!" Meghan said as she performed it and ended up in a wobbly landing. I let out a small chuckle.

"Oh, and you can do better?" Meghan said in a cocky voice as I walked up to the mat to decide what to do. I let out a large breath and did a whip back through to a full twist. I had learned all of this when I used to take gymnastics, so I guess I had a good chance of making the team, I also learned a lot from Lauren, she was really good.

"Yeah, I sort of just did do better' I said walking away as everyone clapped.

"Pfft, whatever Georgina show her how it's done." Megan said flipping her hair. I've never really seen Georgina do any tumbling, but I know she took classes two years ago. I had no idea how this would turn out.

She started on the edge of the mat and did the same whip back through to a full twist, but her landing was wobbly causing me to grin like the cheshire cat.

"That was fun" I said to Clara, who also was at tryouts.

"Thank God someone beat her at something, that girl thinks she's better than everyone else. I hate it so much" she said

"You're really good!" Simone said walking over to me as I looked over at Georgina getting comforted by her possey.

"Very impressive number 7, I'm looking forward to seeing you do your jumps and routine" Coach Erica said as she walked past us.

"Get in your positions girls!" Coach yelled as we all ran to our assigned spots.

"Ready and GO" 

We started the routine to the music, it was really fun actually. We carried on to the jumps. I didn't know all of them, but I was taught the mandatory ones by Simone and Clara. 

We jumped, took a break, and then we moved on to a surprise stunting. I was assigned to be flyer. My bases were Clara and Georgina *ew*, my front spot was a girl named Grace and my backspot was another really tall girl I didn't know the name of. 

"5-6-7-8 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8" Coach counted as I went up.

I was scared about Georgina being my base, but I still looked confident, or so I thought. 

With one slight slip, Georgina let go of my foot as I improvised, lifting it up and wobbling a little bit. She let out an evil laugh as I did a quick scorpion to save myself. Luckily, Clara was strong and the tall girl was helping her hold me up. I then safely landed on the ground as Georgina laughed at me.

"Struggle did you?" She said in a baby voice as I walked away ignoring her. A few minutes later, Coach Erica had already gotten out a list to see who was on the team. She put the list on the wall.

"Sorry for those who didnt make it" Coach Erica said as girls walked away crying or jumped for joy.

"OMG I CANT BELIEVE IM TEAM CAPTAIN" I said jumping with Clara and Simone.

"GEORGINA MUST BE SO PISSED" Simone said as we all looked at the angry Georgina.

"UGH GET OUT OF MY FACE" Georgina screamed pushing Amber and Whitney away.

I decided to call Hayes and tell him the news.
