(f/n) pov - I wanted to feel numb I didn't want to feel this pain gilbert placed his hand on my lap as we sat in the car. I looked over at him "how long do you think this war will last?" I asked "who knows a year maybe hopefully they give in early." he said "how many years do you think you will be missing out on our child's life." I asked Dietfried turned looking at me "don't be so harsh on him (f/n) I'm sure if he would have known he wouldn't have signed up." he said I looked away My child will grow up with out a uncle and father" gilbert frowned "don't say that you don't know I could come back completely with out a mark." my lip quivered as I turned to him "this could be the last time I see you gil do you know what that feels like! do you understand how much I love you." I shouted, I was hurting and I felt like he doesn't understand that.

gilbert pulled me into a hug "listen to me (f/n) I promise you I'll come back alive and when I do I'll walk through the door and never leave again I promise you that. we'll have a child he'll live a life better than anyone's" "or she" "yes or she" he said back "we'll live happily I swear by it" he said. I couldn't help but smile it was a dream I always wanted "that would be amazing gil" I said as I hugged him. it wasn't long until we reached the army point the car was pulled over and soon gilbert and dietfried got out following behind them I hugged dietfried "dietfried you be good and don't make any of your fellow navy men jump off the boat." dietfried chuckled "make sure to write to me as well I want to hear if I'll be a uncle of a nephew or niece" he said. "I will don't worry" I turned to gilbert hugging him I pressed my face into his chest "I love you" I said. gilbert kissed my head "Everything will be okay (f/n) don't worry" he said.

3rd person's pov - (f/n) thought back further to those words when they saved her she walked close to gilbert holding onto his hand. gilbert turned smiling down at her "don't worry everything will be okay" he said (f/n) looked at gilbert's eyes he looked very sincere. she followed gilbert and dietfried into the home "care for something to drink or eat?" he asked he looked (f/n) over "your hurt" he said before hurrying off and bringing a medical kit back "here let me" he said getting down "you don't need to its just a few scrapes" she said. "nonsense it should be tended too" he said while he patched her up dietfriend walked in with a soda "my father wont be home for a while so get comfortable." he said (f/n) nodded she looked at gilbert smiling "thank you gilbert." "its no worries I am glad to help you" he said "you don't even know me you didn't have to" "but I wanted to you seem nice" he said "what do you mean" she asked "well its just, I mean-" "don't mind him (f/n) your just a pretty girl he likes to watch from afar." (f/n) blushed as she looked at the flustered gilbert "i just wanted to know what so interesting when you sit under the tree you look like you are having a good time." he said "oh that I am just resting I work a lot so getting the peace feels good it make me happy." she said gilbert smiled "sounds nice maybe I could join you one day" (f/n) smiled "yeah maybe." she said
