that feeling

you know that feeling,
when the warm sun is pouring onto your face through the window.
the early morning song of the birds slowly bringing you back to consciousness.
you open your eyes slowly,
and you stretch,
starting from your toes all the way to your fingertips.
the air outside of the covers,
cold,
it sweeps across your face,
sending a shiver down your spine,
but under the covers,
it's cosy and warm.
you never want to leave.
you squeeze into a ball and stretch again,
submerging your head under the duvet into the warmth.
you stay still for a brief second,
before emerging your head again.
you lay still,
listening to the song of the birds,
wishing you could say there forever.
you feel safe,
like nothing can hurt you,
nothing can make you sad,
angry,
jealous,
mad,
homesick,
torn,
crazy,
heartbroken.
you feel nothing but everything at the same time.
can we feel like that with a person?
can we feel safe with someone?
can we feel nothing but everything at the same time?

in the moment you wake up and feel the sun on your face,
and the birds chirping their songs,
tell me what it's like to sleep.
to have a 'good nights rest'
to dream,
what does that feel like?
is it like death without the commitment?
or is it heavenly and sweet?
when you wake up,
I want to know every detail.
you may think I'm crazy,
but I've never felt what it's like to sleep.
so please,
tell me about your dreams,
tell me about the places you went to.
tell me how you escaped reality for hours and hours without being awoken again.
and how does it feel to wake up?
disappointing,
sad?
what is it like?
tell me what the sun is like on your face when you wake up.
what is it like?
because I want to know,
