ACCIDENTAL
~
"UM, Y-YEAH, I-I'M ALRIGHT," I spit out stutteringly.
Jieun began heading over towards me. Dressed in a loose grey hoodie, black tights, and her thin, closed-toed dance shoes along with her hair neatly braided on both sides, it seemed as if she were about to go to practice. "What happened?" she asks, squatting down only a foot away from me. I swallow down my nerves, and open my mouth as to say something, but quickly shut it, my mind had been processing too much for me too fast to try and say something, and the words didn't want to come out of my mouth due to future embarrassment. As I felt my face begin to heat up, I drop my face to stare down at the floor in hopes that she wouldn't notice. "It's okay if you don't want to tell me," said Jieun, softly, "let me help you up." Raising my head back up, I watched as she gets up to a bent over position with one hand propping herself up on her thigh and the other reaching out to me. I reluctantly take her hand, finally gathering up the strength to stand myself back up.
"I'll help collect your things," she said.
"You don't have to, it's fine," I insisted.
"But I want t-"
Before she even crouched down and began to pick up my belongings, I grabbed her by her forearm, pulling her towards me. A gasp escapes both of our lips. All at once, she was now face-to-face with me, our noses only a couple millimeters away. Her cheeks were brushed with a sheer rose, which quickly crescendoed into a deep crimson. Once I return to my senses, my insides begin to stir as I hold her warmth to me. God, I've never held a girl this close to me before, especially one I just met. Her chest braced against mine, and in that moment, I could hear my heart beating. I could hear Jieun's heart beat too. Soon enough, our heartbeats were in synchronization. As seconds flew by, not either of us pulled away. Not either of us moved, all due to the fear of letting one another go and losing our pulse.
Soon enough, she stepped back from me, holding her hands close to her front. As her attention averted over at my scattered mess on the floor, her brows skyrocketed and her eyes lit up immediately.
"You're a composer?" Jieun asked, squatting down to take a closer look at my sheet music.
"Y-Yeah, I write my own pieces," I stammered as I follow along suit.
She stares off into the distance, seeming as if she had taken an interest at a specific piece of music. Propping herself up with one hand on the floor and reaching out with the other, she manages to grab hold of the sheet music. Neatly written along the top, the title read, "noona."
"Is this for your older sister?" Jieun asks, settling herself down with her legs crossed.
"No, I actually don't have one," I chuckled under my breath.
She raises a brow at me.
"She's a childhood friend."
"Ah, I see."
"She moved away a long time ago, so I'm writing a song for her in case we reunite."
"Do you write songs for other people?"
"I can."
"Can you write a song for me?"
My eyes widen in disbelief.
"W-wait, what?" I stutter, shocked.
"I need an original piece and an accompanist for my solo in the area competition coming up," Jieun explained. "I haven't found anyone to help me, but seeming as though I stumbled upon you, I thought I could give it a try by asking you."
