"Oh, look who the cat dragged in."

"Emily." Demi scolded.

I glared at her.

"I have to pee." I said.

She grabbed my wrist and I flinched.

"Sit back down." She told me.

"What? I'm fine."

"No, you aren't." She mouthed and then said "sit back down" out loud.

"Fine." I sighed and drank my Gatorade.

"Can we go?" I asked.

"Go back out there?" Dianna asked.

"No, go. I don't want to be here. Can we leave?"

"Sure." Dianna said.

"You don't have to." Demi said.

"No, it's fine. Let's go." We followed Dianna back to the car.

"Emily, what do you say?" Demi said.

"Your welcome."

Demi sighed and got in the car.

I stood there watching all of the cars pass by. In that moment, I wanted so badly to just walk out in front of one.

Demi  got out of the car, gently grabbed my arm, and helped me into the car.

"I wish you would talk to me, Emily."

"I wasn't going to do anything."

She just looked at me, then got back into the car.

"Alright, you guys ready to go?" Dianna asked as she put the car in drive.

"Well, I really wasn't wanting to go, yet." Maddie said.

"We'll try to come back soon." Dianna smiled at her.

"I'm not coming back." I said, rudely.

"Emily. You're on the last straw." Demi told me.

"What's that supposed to mean? That you're going to give me back?"

"No." She turned around and looked at me, then proceeded with, "just that you're about to get grounded. There is nothing you can ever do that will make me want to give you back, Emily. I care about you." She then turned back around.

We were all quiet the rest of the way back to Dianna's house.

Demi opened my door and we all walked up to Dianna's porch.

Demi tried to have conversation with me while Dianna was unlocking the door.

I shoved past her and walked inside.

I walked all the way up to Demi's old room, Demi trailing behind me, and threw myself on the bed.

"Are you ready to talk yet?" Demi asked.

"No. What would I be ready to talk about?"

"Emily, you were contemplating whether or not to walk out in front of a car. Please talk to me." She pleaded.

"I'm fine and no, I wasn't."

I got out my coloring book and used my colored pencils to color the page.

Demi sat beside me and said "are you in to art?"

"I'm in to you leaving me alone."

"I don't think that's a good idea right now."

"I'm fine!" I yelled.

"Okay." She got out her phone and played on it while she was sitting at the end of the bed.

"I want to be left alone."

"Emily, I can't do that."

I stormed out of the room and yup, there she was, trailing behind me again.

"Leave me alone!"

I pushed her.

"Emily." She said in a calming voice.

"I don't need you following my every move. I'm not constantly going to do something."

She grabbed my wrist and led me back into her bedroom.

"Fuck." I said as she finally let go.

"Sorry. I needed some way to get you back in here. I care about you baby girl."

"I know."
