CALEB'S STRONG ARM was loosely wrapped my shoulder and his hand hung limply at the end.
Pressed against his side, I leaned into his touch and savoured the warmth that radiated off of him.
Olivia dragged my attention to the magazine that was tightly held in her grip as she tapped the page like an excited child on Christmas morning.
"Oh, this one is so beautiful!" She grinned, the stunning specks in her eyes sparking in the light.
A smile spread across my lips and I allowed my eyes to sweep across the picture. "Agreed. You'd look gorgeous in that dress!" It was the truth. She had an amazing figure.
Despite having such an amazing body, Olivia was insecure and couldn't believe my words no matter how much I said them. "Really!?" Her petite shoulders shrunk and a frown etched across her mouth. "I just don't think-.." Cutting her off instantly, I placed an assuring hand onto her shoulder.
"Honestly, Liv, you're stunning! Why don't you and I head to the mall after school tomorrow and we'll pick out dresses." She eyed me for a moment and within a split second she grinned and nodded.
I smiled too.
There was similar buzz like this going on throughout our year. As always, a dance was being organised to raise money to fund for school repairs and just as always, everyone attended.
This year, Caleb and I would go together and Olivia would go with with Tyler. It was the first time since Olivia and I had boyfriend's at the same time, so it made going to the dance a whole lot more exciting.
Last year, it was boys ask girls. This year, it had been reversed.
"So..." I began, grinning like a mad women. Caleb titled his chin to meet my eyes. He hummed in response, gesturing for me to go on. "About the dance.."
Caleb said nothing and so I continued. "Pick me up at seven? I was thinking of wearing this gorgeous red dress which I had seen in one of the new shop windows that just opened up in the mall. I'm so excited and-.." Caleb didn't respond. I quirked a brow and noticed the way he shifted his eyes from mine.
He removed his arm and placed it onto the table. "About that." He started, clearing his voice. "You see, the thing is, it's girls ask boys and I know you were going to ask me already but Kate-.." I stopped listening the moment he uttered her name.
Sucking in a breath, I tightened my jaw and rose a brow. "You're going with Kate?" Caleb stopped speaking and he ran a hand through his golden locks.
