IT WAS HARD to ignore his stare and it was even harder to allow my resolve to run thin and meet those dark eyes in which I'd grown so accustomed to.
The plan was for Seth to drive me home and after the little incident with Caleb, I was unsure if that plan still stood, so I started walking by myself. I felt as thought I was being followed and a loud honk caused me to jump a few metres in the air before I turned around and realised that it was in fact Seth following me in his car.
I chewed on my lip nervously and gripped the strap of my bag that hung over my shoulder. The whole way round his car, I'd felt his eyes on me and they didn't seem to shift once, not even when I'd clipped the belt into place and waited for him to drive with my hands patiently resting on my lap.
Releasing a breath of air that I didn't realise I was holding in, Seth shifted the gear stick and drove further down the road and took a right. Heavy with unspoken words, neither of us dared to speak, not even a breath could be heard above the faint sounds of the radio.
I noticed Seth's next actions and frowned. He fished around in the middle compartment until he gripped onto the object of his desires and placed the small cylinder between his two fingers. He lit the cigarette and rolled down the window.
I eyed the object with a heavy look. Illuminated by the faint light that poured into the car, his features were made out to be even more defined and strong. It was then that I chose to speak up when he blew out a puff of smoke like a teapot rapidly blowing off steam.
"I thought you quit." It wasn't a question, more so a statement in which Seth seemed to absorb before tapping the cigarette against the window and placing it back into his mouth. He shrugged and then his words came out all at once. "Couldn't last any longer without them. It was easier to give in."
Somehow, it had felt as though the words in which he'd uttered had held a whole other meaning. Putting two and two together, I soon realised what he'd meant and I scowled at him, my eyes ablaze. "Why do you always do that?" Soon he'd parked up beside my house and the engine burnt out like his cigarette after a few moments.
"Do what?" Seth's lips curled upwards but he wasn't smirking in amusement-it was far from it, in fact. It was a sarcastic grin that caused my anger to increase gradually. "You're always throwing jibes at my relationship and I don't like it." Seth turned around to face me and his lips thinned into a straight line.
"Relationship? That's what you're calling it?" My brows shot up and I glared at him with more ferocity. My fingers dug into my sides as my jaw tightened in place. "You have no right to comment on it!" Seth shut his mouth instantly and scoffed, a sarcastic laugh soon escaped his lips and I frowned deeply.
