Chapter 3

It was 4am but our sensei hasn't arrived yet, Naruto and Sakura seemed very annoyed while Sasuke and I were chilling in the tree. Somehow enjoying each other's company, I focused on meditation while Sasuke just kept his eyes closed. After what felt like days we heard his voice "Sorry I'm late, I'm afraid I got caught on the path of life" he said as he smirked underneath his mask. I couldn't help but admire his mask, it was mysterious just the way I liked it. I kept a mental note on it looks so when Sasuke and I go ninja gear hunting, I know what I want. By the time I zoned back in, Sasuke and Sakura got up quickly. Thank gosh Sasuke grabbed my arm and jumped back into a bush. We both laid down, he gave me a pointed look. I smiled sheepishly and shook my head, watching Naruto being well Naruto. I did some hand signs, then whispered "Hidden Shadow Jutsu" as I slowly sunk into the shadow of the bush.

I used the tree shadows to find my way to a bound Naruto. I grabbed a Kunai from my pocket as I aimed at the rope. I flicked my wrist as fast as I could so Kakashi couldn't see it hopefully. As Naruto fell, I jumped into his shadow as he fell through my shadow jutsu. "WHA-!" was all Naruto could say as I shushed him. "Naruto, be quiet. I'm lucky Kakashi hasn't found me yet, anyways we need to work with Sasuke and Sakura to even have a chance." I whispered while stepping out of a shadow him right behind me. "You must teach me this jutsu Mai, no way will I work with him!" Naruto said as he started to run. "Nar-" "So Mai, you were the one to free Naruto? I didn't sense you using your chakra." A voice said shocking me.

I saw the bells by his waist and took my kunai out, ready to strike. He kept reading his book, not bothering to look at me. I smirked, never not look at an Uchiha when battling them. I leaped at him only for him to try and kick me away. I quickly used my substitution jutsu and did some hand signs. "Fireball Jutsu" I whispered not wanting the enemy to know my jutsu. I blew fire at him, only for him to poof. "Tsk shadow clone" I said a little annoyed as I was just heating up.

Meanwhile with Kakashi, he was shocked how a mere genin could beat a shadow clone. He put his book away as he saw Sakura hit the floor, passed out.

I fetched my kunai when suddenly hearing a high pitched squeal, it sounded like Sakura. I quickly got up and started to jump from tree branch to tree branch. Hoping not to be caught by the crazy ninja. I came across a clearing, I waited to see if anyone else was there but breathed out a sigh when no one else was around. I went up to her and sweat dropped. She has the brains out of all of us but yet couldn't get herself out of a genjustsu. I sighed a focused some chakra to my finger tips and tapping her on the head. "SASUKE! Oh hi Mai" Sakura said as she shot up, I held my ears as her voice caused ringing. "Ughh Sakura you need to get over him, plus we need to work together so we can get the bells" I said still trying to get rid of the ringing.

"I only wanna work with Sasuke! He is the best out of all of us!" Sakura yelled while running off calling for my oh so dear brother. "Sigh fine" I said while regretting to get her out of it, maybe Sasuke will see the aim of this lame test. 'What a Dr-' wait isn't that Shikamarus saying. I shook of the thoughts and started to meditate, trying to sense my brothers chakra. It was a good 3 minutes before I opened my eyes and ran off to his direction.

It took all my inner beings to not laugh at the sight, there was my brother head popped out of the ground with the most angriest face I have ever seen. He must have heard me snicker when his head turned to my direction. He looked relieved before "Mai, this isn't funny. Get me out" he said to me while watching expectantly. I giggled not able to help it before using a jutsu which loosened the ground around him. "Your so lucky, your elementally gifted" Sasuke said jealousy lacing his voice. I frowned at his statement, I train by myself now as he seemed jealous of my elemental abilities. I didn't want to tease him, I knew he would always be stronger. He had this feeling within him that told me he would awaken an amazing power one day and I can't wait to see it.

"Sasuke, we need to work together to get the bells." I said helping him up. He looked at me then shaking his head. "I need to do this alone, your my sister and he may be after you so I need to get stronger to protect you. I also nearly got the bells so I know I can do it" he said not quite staring we in the eyes. "But Sasuke-" I was about to say something when the clock went, hinting that the exercise was over. 'We failed..' I thought sadly as we started to walk to the spot.
