Chapter 23

~Timeskip to the Chunin exams ~

Our team slowly met up outside the required building, readying ourselves for the chunin exams. I smiled when Sakura showed up, she didn't look so sure when we got it. I nodded at her hoping to give her a bit of confidence, even though I'm still not on great terms with her. I fixed up my headband wanting to be like a girl version of Kakashi with black hair instead. My team looked at me oddly before shaking their heads as we walked inside. We went up 2 flights of stairs noticing the rather large crowd in front of these doors. I looked at the 3 in surprise, this isn't the 3rd floor. I wasn't the only one to notice as Sasuke said "let us pass and by the way drop the genjutsu" with a smirk on his face. I nodded before the two boys went to kick at Sasuke and I. We went to fight back when someone caught sasukes foot and in shock I stopped just an inch from his face.

Someone in a bright green spandex, I couldn't help but blush in embarrassment at what he's wearing. It soon turned to horror when he crouched down in front of me grabbing my hand "You are the most beautiful rose I have ever seen! Please marry me! I'll protect you with my life!" I couldn't help but shiver and look at Sasuke begging him to help. "U-um I heard Sakura needs that" I stuttered pointing to Sakura. Her face too formed into horror as he did the exact same thing except different name of course. I shudder before looking at the other two who were standing beside him. The girl was pretty and tall and had two buns, she held scrolls.

'Ah so she's a weapon specialist' I thought before going to the other with long brown hair with big pale eyes. I couldn't help but admire his eyes, they definitely held a lot of power. "Who are you? Are you rookies?" The pale eyes asked looking at Sasuke before turning to me. "I'm not obliged to answer that" Sasuke said smirking at the boy. "Ya know if you want someone's name you gotta give your name first" I said not liking him now. "Neji Hyuga, now who are you two?" This caused Sasuke to smirk even more while I just shrugged. "Mai" was all I said while Naruto was trying to make them notice him. "I'm ten ten" the girl beside him introduced herself before Sasuke decided to drag us upstairs.

(An- yes I'm skipping the fight between lee and Sasuke sorry )

We kept walking as I was thinking back to Garra, will I see him again? Will I have to fight him? I shiver at the thought of that, little did I know that the others have stopped and I kept walking. I looked up and almost crashed into Kakashi if Sasuke didn't grab me by my hoodie and pull me back beside him. I blushed and looked at Kakashi who seemed to be chuckling at my clumsiness. "Since the whole team is here, you are officially allowed to take the exams" Kakashi said closing his eyes.We all looked at him confused, he sighed before continuing "This test can only be taken in teams of three but with this team there's an exception of course" Kakashi said looking at me. 'Hey what's that mean?!' I thought loudly not liking the way he looked at me accusingly.

"So if someone decided not to come then we wouldn't be able to get through?" I asked through my mask, not wanting to take it off. "Yes I didn't tell you this in the beginning because I knew that Sasuke and Naruto would force Sakura to come in the first place" Kakashi said before opening the door. "Make me proud, team 7" Kakashi said smiling at us and poofing away.

As soon as Sasuke and I walked through the door, a high pitched squeal came before a blonde girl pushed me out of the way and lump herself onto Sasuke. "Wow Thanks Ino" I grumbled getting up and dusting myself off. "You were too close to my Sasuke!" She yelled before poking her tongue out at me. I sighed before going to say 'what a drag' but a voice beat me to it. "What a drag you guys are here too" I looked up at Shikamaru, "yo" I said putting my hand up.

He sighed before Choji came up beside him, munching on his chips. I looked at the flavour and almost died. This flavour is new! "U-um Choji May I try one" I ask a bit shy knowing how he is with his food. "*munch* *munch* sure" he said allowing me to grab a chip from his bag. I happily said "thanks" before putting the chip in my mouth. I couldn't help but feel the heat on my cheeks as the flavour was completely melting into my mouth. Then all of a sudden, I felt my tongue burn as I found out the chips were infact spicy.

I heard them all laugh as I stuck my tongue out and jumping around like crazy. "Hot hot hawwwt" I say as I'm begging for milk. I look at Sasuke mentally asking for milk but he just smirked and shook his head. I felt my eyes water, not from the rejection but from the heat that some how got worse. I saw a hand holding milk in front of me causing me to look up and see someone with glasses. "For rookies your making a lot of noise" he said as I grabbed the milk chugging it down. "These guys wouldn't hesitate to kill you rookies" the silver head boy said looking at me weirdly.

"Eh already had that" I said as my team shuddered at the memory. The other teams looked at me weirdly before shrugging. "Actually over the past tests I have gathered information" the boy who we learned was Kabuto said to us bringing out his cards. Sasuke seemed curious on Rock Lee and Gaara. I didn't so much listen on Lee's one but Garra I did. "He hasn't had a scratch on any missions he's done" Kabuto said. 'Wow he's that strong?!' I thought now really wanting to verse him. "What about Mai?" Someone asked behind me, I looked behind me and saw that Neji Hyuga. "Last name?" Kabuto asked looking at me. "Secret" I said smirking then pulling my tongue out. "Well I sorta know what you look like, I'll go from there" Kabuto said grabbing a card out.

I felt my heart race at the thought of maybe him knowing something about me. His smirk soon turned to a frown when he showed us my card and there was nothing but my name on it. Everything else was unknown, I smirked in victory as everyone looked at me shocked. "Oh there's a Rose here but I don't understand what it means" Kabuto said looking at me strangely. "My favourite flower genius" I said as he looked at me unsure. "You like black bloody roses?" He looked at me unsure, "yes because that's what happens to those who annoy me" I said pulling my scary face.
