"What are you talking about he's obsessed with you?"
Jay rolled her eyes as she clutched the phone, "I mean, he showed up at my house and just tried to have sex with me!"
"So you're telling me that he randomly broke into your house and was coincidentally horny as fuck?" Jo replied. Jay nodded, "He's horny all the time! He always has a reason to get into my pants!"
Jo let out a small laugh, "Well, maybe you should be flattered--"
"Are you crazy?" Jay asked, slamming her hand down on her desk, "The only thing that I should be flattered about is that he hasn't murdered me yet."
"I-I'm just saying t-that, you know, he obviously thinks that you are attractive--"
"Yeah.."
"So maybe that's more of a compliment instead of a.. sexual gesture?"
Jay pinched the bridge of her nose underneath her glasses as she adjusted the landline to her ear. "I don't know, Jo. He honestly tries to fuck me anywhere and anytime we're in the proximity of one hundred yards of each other."
"Do you want to, you know-"
"No! I don't want to Jo!" Jay exclaimed. "He may be charming a-and slightly handsome- but I'm not going to whore myself out for him!"
"Okay," Jo chuckled, "whatever you say."
"What? W-What do you mean 'whatever you say'?" Jay stammered as she fidgeted with a piece of her hair. "Nothing, it's nothing."
"Jo you know damn well that I don't believe you." She watched as headlights outside lit up her room as they passed by.
"You're falling for this guy and you know that we both know." Jay scoffed, "I am not falling in love with Patrick- I mean I don't think I am. I mean his existence makes me shiver and his voice makes me want to crawl under a rock and don't get me started on his friends-"
"Jay."
"What?"
"You're rambling."
"Sorry." Jay apologized turning a page in her book. "They're just so disgustingly interesting you know?"
"No I don't know." Jo sighed through the phone. "I'm talking about how the four of the boys are all so... weird and antisocial. It's like without each other they can't function properly."
"Wow Jay, you should start a research project on them. Maybe you could discover a new kind of disease found in all dickheads." Jo stated sarcastically as he yawned.
Jay rolled her eyes as she laughed, "Shush your mouth."
"Whatever." Jo chuckled, "You hear about that party that Stacy Lenbecker is throwing on Saturday? Heard it's going to be bitchin'."
"You just got to this school and you already know when the next junior party is? I've been going to the same school for three fucking years and I've never been to a party." Jay let out a laugh. Jo chuckled, "What can I say, I'm just that cool."
Jay scoffed, "Whatever you dweeb! In your dreams."
Jay listened as Jo continued to laugh, "Ah, well I gotta go eat dinner-- you're sure you don't need someone to spend the night?"
"I'm fine, Jo. Really." Jay reassured. "You're all alone in a house by yourself."
"Josiah. I am perfectly fine."
Jo let out a shallow breath, "If you insist." Jay let out a small smile, "I'll see you at school tomorrow."
"You sure will, Loser."
Before Jay could argue back, Jo hung up the phone. "Bitch." Jay mumbled before standing from her desk and walking down the hallway, hanging up the phone on the receiver. She slowly stammered back to her room, her eyes catching sight of Castor scratching his face against the hallway lamp.
"Hi baby." She smiled, running her hand over his ears as he purred and chirped. "You blind little shit." She mumbled as she slid down the wall next to him.
"Why can't you just morph into a human?" She asked as he slowly climbed onto her lap. "You wouldn't hunt me down and beat the shit out of my friends would you?"
The small white cat rolled onto his back as Jay raked her hand through his soft shaggy fur. "Goodboy." She smiled as she scooped the tiny animal into her arms, standing and walking back into her room.
She perched on the edge of her chair, Castor snaking out of her arms onto the desk and stretching himself across the black wooden table. Jay admired his eyes as they dilated and focused on Jay's face. He was blind but he could still tell that the strange figure in front of him was indeed Jay.
"What's so stupidly interesting about this boy?" She asked, dragging her finger along his nose. "Is it his hair? His fucking smile, his style?"
The cat slowly looked around the area and murmured softly. "Just the way he touches me makes feel alive again." Jay whispered as she suddenly stood up. "No- I'm not thinking about him like that."
She watched as Castor suddenly jumped off the desk and scurried down the hallway. "You're fucking crazy if you think that you and him could ever work out!" She shouted.
"You're so fucking crazy. You're so fucking crazy. You're so fucking crazy." Jay repeated as she shoved her fingers through her hair.
"But he's crazier." She mumbled.
She stood there, unable to move. Unable to speak. She only stared out the window thinking about when he treated her like absolute garbage but she felt like a queen.
Jay broke her spell and walked toward her chest of drawers. She needed something to wear if she was going to this supposed party on Saturday.
"Why are the only things I own socks and jeans." Jay asked herself as she flipped through the stacks of clothes.
Reaching her bottom drawer, she finally pulled out her homecoming outfit from freshman year, or at least her backup outfit.
It was a dark purple satin romper that was perfect for the hot days. She ran her hand over the fabric as she remembered the night of freshman year.
She went just to get away for a while, get out for the evening. Jay did want to wear the romper but decided on a strapless baby blue dress instead.
"This thing better fit or else you're not gonna have anything to wear." Jay whispered to herself as she hung the suit on a hanger, latching it to her door handle.
While walking back to her bed, Jay quickly flipped open her notebook on her desk, tearing out a page.
Her hand gripped the pen that quickly scribbled on the lined paper. Pulling a thumb tack from her wall, Jay aggressively punched the tack into the piece of paper that hung from the wall above her desk.
'He will not take control of you.'
