The tile clicked underneath her hell heels. The black satin shining underneath the fluorescent lighting from above. Her hair was silk as her soft curled hair bounced as she strutted down the hallway.

Girls gawked and stared in envy as they watched the semi-confident girl walk past them. They all looked her up and down, her skirt hugging all her curves and her blouse complimenting her slim upper body.

Jay slowly entered the front office as she approached the reception desk. A woman with red hair, around her forties, babbled on the phone while Jay waited awkwardly.

"Okay. Bah Bye. Can I help you?" The woman asked, glaring over her small framed glasses to Jay. "I'm here for a meeting with Sheriff Bowers." Jay managed to speak up.

The woman looked at the girl like she was crazy, giving her a rude stare. "No students are allowed back here and you'll be counted late if you don't get to third period right now."

"No- I have a designated meeting with Sheriff Bowers, it's urgent." Jay repeated. The woman slowly stood to her feet from her office chair, "I'm going to tell you one more time, young lady. You are not allowed back there. And I must say that your outfit is quite provocative for a school environment."

Jay scoffed as she glanced at the woman's choice of outfit, and to her surprise, the woman wore the exact same thing Jay was wearing.

"Listen," Jay placed her notebook and folder on the desk. "Let's get one thing straight here. I am a member of the Derry Investigation squad, I am permitted to this meeting so don't you dare tell me I'm not. Second of all, if you want to tell me anything about my outfit, you're going to have to go into that fucking bathroom and look at yourself because last time I checked you're wearing the same exact thing I am."

The woman looked to Jay in shock. "Now," Jay smiled as she hugged her notebook to her chest, "I'll head to my meeting now."

Jay watched as she sauntered past the woman and towards the meeting room. She slowly wrapped her hand around the handle and pushed open the door.

"Sorry." Jay apologized, as she swung the door closed. She looked up to see shocked expressions, much like the receptionists. "Did you hear all of that?" Jay asked. The small room of deputies and officers nodded their head.

"Told you fucktards that this girl doesn't take shit from nobody."

Jay glanced to the head of the table to Sheriff Bowers as her cheeks began to grow red. "Just the wrong time to mouth someone off."

"May I introduce, Ms. Sloan. Student at Derry Public high school and our newest member of the Derry PD Investigation team."

Jay smiled slowly and her face began to heat as the meeting room clapped for her. "Thank you." Jay chuckled before taking a seat next to Sheriff Bowers.

"Ms. Sloan will be helping us with the investigation and criminal behavior as well. She excels in criminal activity and law enforcement so if you get in her way," Sheriff Bowers looked to her, "she will truck you the fuck over."

The room murmured quietly as Jay flipped open her folder and rearranging her notes. "So, Deputy, will you please fill us in on the investigation?" Sheriff asked.

A man in a blue uniform and matching hat nodded his head while standing to his feet. "Our Investigation, disregarding the missing kids files, is stuck in the mud. Evidence wise, we have all we need to prosecute and convict someone for first degree murder."

"What is it that we don't have?" Butch asked as he leaned into his chair. "We have all the DNA and skin samples we need for an entire year but the problem is that when we tested the DNA, it came back positive for a concoction of animal DNA."
