Jay pushed open her front door slowly, stepping into the doorway and throwing her bag onto the couch.
She dragged her feet across the carpet as she shuffled to her room. As she pasted the kitchen, she jumped at the sound of the phone ringing.
Rolling her eyes, Jay picked up the phone and held it to her ear. "Hello?" She asked, her voice groggy and strained.
"I'm coming over."
Jay furrowed her eyebrows, "Who is this?"
She listened as the person on the other line let out a sigh. "It's Jo""Fuck, Jo, I thought you were some stalker or even worse, you could've been Patrick." Jay chuckled. Jo chuckled through the phone as the sounds of cars going by grew louder and louder through the phone.
"Why do you want to come over?" Jay asked as she leaned against the corridor frame. "Do I need a reason to see my friend Jay?" Jo snapped back.
Jay rolled her eyes as she twisted the cord around her finger, "Hey, I was just asking."
"Well guess what."
She furrowed her eyebrows, "What?" As she clutched the phone, a knock at the door startled her.
"I'm here."
Jay set the phone down on the receiver as she hurried to the door, twisting the knob and opening it. "Look who it is." Jo chuckled as he entered the house.
"Hey to you too, Jo." Jay nodded as she shut the door. Jo wandered to the center of the living room and set his plastic bag on the coffee table.
"Whatcha got there?" Jay asked as she peered into the bag. "Drugs?"
"What? No-"
"Josiah! You have drugs!" Jay gasped sarcastically as she gripped her chest. Jo smacked his forehead with his palm as he let grinned. "Yeah, all of the drugs- I have all the drugs."
"What are we gonna do?" Jay asked as she jumped onto the couch and flipped on the television.
"We are going to have a bitchin time and you are going to forget all about little ol' Patrick Cockstutter."
Jay wheezed as Jo pulled out a liter of apple juice and some strawberries in a container. "What is this?" Jay asked.
Jo glanced to her devilishly, "I went to the pharmacy but they didn't have anything good so I got the next best thing. Fruit."
"Thanks Mr. Rogers." Jay smirked as she bit into the red fruit. "You know that strawberries aren't technically berries?" Jo asked as he sat on the couch next to Jay.
"That's bullshit. Probably something the government is spreading around so we buy more strawberries."
Jo almost choked on his strawberry as he let out a loud laugh. "What?"
Jay smiled, "The government spreads a lot of things that aren't true- like if you go to the supermarket, you see ketchup right?"
Jo nodded slowly.
"If a tomato is a fruit, then wouldn't ketchup be a smoothie?" Jay grinned. Jo squinted his eyes as he realized what she had just said.
"What the fuck Jay." He chuckled. "No really! I mean what if the government is brainwashing us!" She objected.
"You're full of it. Oh!-"
Jay watched as Jo jumped the couch and ran towards his plastic bag, pulling out tapes. "I got these!"
The Breakfast Club, Back to the Future and The Terminator all displayed in his hand as a wide smile grew on Jo's face.
"The Terminator? Really?" Jay cocked an eyebrow. Jo scoffed, "How dare you disrespect Arnold Schwarzenegger like that!"
Jay chuckled as Jo placed the tapes on the coffee table and sat next to Jay again. "Why are you really here? Not that I don't want you to be here." Jay asked.
Jo sighed as he tossed his head back, "I was just extremely bored and you never have plans."
"Wow thanks." Jay scoffed, popping another strawberry into her mouth. "You know I didn't mean it like that!" Jo squinted.
Jay chuckled as she looked back to the coffee table. The two sat in silence for a minute before looking back to each other.
"So are you and Patrick a..."
"Oh god no- I mean like he does like me a lot but no we're not together." Jay shook her head. "You like him." Jo grinned devilishly.
Jay's jaw dropped to floor as Jo let out a laugh. "What?!" She shouted.
"The way that you talk about him, you get all red and flustered!" Jo pinched her cheek. Jay pulled away and rolled her eyes, "Whatever, I just naturally have a red undertone."
"Oh Patrick! Oh!!" Jo mimicked as he clutched his chest. "I don't sound like that!" Jay argued as she let out a giggle.
"I don't sound like that!" Jo mocked again twirling his non-existent hair in his finger. Jay crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back.
"Face it Jay! You like him!" Jo placed his hand on her knee. "I don't! I swear!" Jay flicked his hand.
Jo watched as Jay furrowed her eyebrows and turned away defensively. "I'm going to leave you to your pouting but I'm going to watch Terminator."
"Ugh, not Terminator, watch something worth watching like the Breakfast Club!" Jay groaned. Jo glanced to her rolling his eyes as he slipped the Breakfast Club tape into the television.
As Jo sat down on the couch again, Jay couldn't help but notice a blue tint to Jo's light brown skin.
"Jo I—"
"Fuck," Jo blurted as quickly stood to his feet. Jay switched her gaze to the television as static overwhelmed the screen.
"What happened?" Jay asked as she slowly sat up. "The tape c..can't play because of how old it is." Jo sighed.
Jay frowned as Jo placed the tape back into the pile with the others. "We can do something else." Jay reassured as she turned her body towards Jo.
"Like what?" Jo asked as his eyes slumped. Jay furrowed her eyebrows before bouncing off of the couch and towards her room.
Jo watched as Jay quickly returned, board game in hand. "Monopoly? Really?" Jo whined.
"Weh weh it was the only board game I could find I haven't played one of these in forever." Jay rolled her eyes as she set down the game on the coffee table.
"You know how to play right?" Jay asked as Jo joined her on the floor. Jo nodded his head. "Good." Jay nodded as well.
"I have a question." Jo blurted as Jay fiddled with the box of the game. "About?.." Jay asked.
"What do you know about the Bowers Gang? I mean you've told me about them and I've seen them around you and stuff but I don't know a lot about them."
Jay rubbed her fingers across her skirt and bowed her head slowly. "Uhm- they're a complicated group of.. individuals." Jay murmured.
Jo chuckled, "Well, duh, Patrick is constantly trying to get in your pants."
Jay forced a smile and rubbed her neck. "Oh my god," Jo spoke emotionlessly, "You actually like Patrick."
"Haven't we been over this before??" Jay scoffed. "You actually like the sick son of a bitch!" Jo slipped his mouth into a smirk.
"Okay so what if I do?!" Jay blurted back. "It's not like anyone else would show me the affection he gives me anyway!"
Jo's smirk slowly faded and a frown was left upon his skin. His eyes dimmed as well as the color in his skin.
"I would."
