Jay left out a sigh as she pushed through the metal doors of the hospital, peeling off her gloves and shoving them in the pocket of her jacket.
The sun had now gone down and the lamppost lights were illuminating the parking lot.
"Hey."
Jay glanced over her shoulder to her father as he approached her. "Are you okay?" He asked.
"Y-Yeah, I was just a bit... caught off guard." Jay hesitated, forcing a smile. Her father forced one as well as he pat her shoulder.
"I didn't expect that either. I don't think Butch was either and he's... he's been working in Derry for over 20 years."
Jay nodded as she peered out towards the trees, into the wild darkness.
"Common." Dex suggested as the two of them walked towards the car.
The two sat in silence the entire ride home. The quiet strumming of the folk music on the radio filled the car but their minds were on something else.
Rain tapped on the roof and windshield of the car, rolling down the window. Jay watched the drops fall and cluster together.
"You want something to eat on the way home?" Her dad asked, glancing to her as he clutched the steering wheel in his hand.
"Uh... no, I'm not that hungry." Jay mumbled drawing a smiley face on the window of the car.
"We have that lunch with Butch tomorrow. At his house."
Jay rolled her eyes and internally scoffed, "I don't know if I want to go to that."
Dexter glanced back to Jay, "I think you should. I mean he's your boss for the mean time. It would set a good first impression."
"Fine." Jay muttered, dragging her finger along the window creating a squeaking noise.
——
"Jay!"
Groaning, Jay rolled off of her bed and to the door. "W-What!" She yelled.
"We leave in an hour!" Her dad shouted down the hallway.
Jay's eyes grew, "I thought we had to leave at 12?!"
"It's 11:00!"
Jay paused before slamming her door, "Fuck! Fuckfuckfuckfuck."
Grabbing a towel off of the back of her desk chair and making her way into the bathroom. Setting the towel on the rack, Jay pulled her hair out of her scrunchie and setting it on the sink.
She started the water, waiting for it to warm before pulling off her tank top, leaving her in just a bra.
As she was about to fully undressed, a tap came from the window. A noticeable tap even though the shower was running. Jay turned back to the mirror, her eyes trained on the window in her reflection.
She jumped suddenly when a pebble hit the window. Storming over to the window she pushed the white curtain to the side to see the Bowers Gang gawking at her.
Jay scoffed before turning away from the window and sliding the curtain closed. Walking back over the the mirror, Jay watched in her reflection as yet another pebble tapped against the window.
"For the love of god.." Jay muttered as she stormed towards the window. Pulling back the curtain, Jay pushed open the window and stuck her head out.
"What the fuck do you want Bowers?!" Jay whispered harshly.
The boys giggled and stared, "Heard you were coming over for lunch today. We'll be waiting."
Trying to hold back her disgust, Jay stuck out her middle finger before gripping onto the side of the window, about to shut it.
