She remembered his face. His smile against her's. The way his hands swept against her cheek. Everything was fresh on her mind and she wanted it again.
As her position on the couch had been occupied, Jay situated herself in the kitchen on a bar stool near the counter as she fiddled with her nail polish.
It was quieter in the kitchen but more room for error. People noticed she was there, she wasn't invisible like the living room. She was being noticed.
"Hey, you're Jay right?"
Jay lifted her eyes and standing before her was none other than Rebecca Anthony. Cheerleader, dumber blonde, known to some as a hoe and a loud mouth.
"Depends on who's asking." Jay muttered as her eyes shifted back to her nails.
She listened as Rebecca quickly sat on the empty bar stool located to the left of Jay's. "I heard from a little birdie that you Mr. Hockstetter have been... involved."
Jay scoffed before throwing her head back, "Yeah, yeah me and him just go at it every chance we get. I have no fucking clue what you're talking about Rebecca."
"Oh come on! I see how he looks at you, he looks at you like he wants to rip off every article of clothing you have on!" Rebecca chuckled as she flicked Jay's dress.
Dropping her hands to the counter, Jay shook her head, trying to persuade Rebecca that her feelings were nonexistent for Patrick Hockstetter, as hard as it was.
"Rebecca, why at any point in time would I have any relation with Patrick Hockstetter. Actually, why would I step within FIFTY FEET of Patrick Hockstetter?"
Rebecca's smile began to expand as her eyes narrowed. "I don't know Jay, but I know a lot of girls who would kill to be in a position like you."
"See, girls will say that but when they find out who he is, they wouldn't want to be in the same state as him." Jay mumbled as she stood from the stool and walked to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water.
"Ah Ha! So how do you know him, Jay?" Rebecca exclaimed excitedly.
Cracking the lid of the water open and taking a swig, Jay furrowed her eyebrows and shook her head in response, "I-I was just saying- UGH, I was just saying how girls don't care to know someone until- That's no-not what-"
"It's alright Jay, no need to get excited or anything." Rebecca giggled as she watched Jay struggle with her sentence.
As Jay was about to finish, the sound of clamoring from the front of the house caught the attention of both of the girls.
"Hey! The Losers are being pummeled in the front yard! Common!" A voice rang out from the living room.
"Aw man! I love to see this shit!" Rebecca giggled as she made a break for the front door. Jay quickly followed behind, filing through the crowd of people in front of her, eventually stumbling onto the porch.
She watched as the gang shoved themselves against the losers, pushing them to the ground. Eddie yelped as he hit the dirt with a thud and his inhaler landed on the sidewalk with a clank.
Spotting the rogue inhaler, Bowers made his way over to Eddie, towering over the shaking boy. "F-Fuck off Bowers." Eddie managed, gripping the ground beneath him.
Henry let out a laugh before he turned to Patrick and back to Eddie. "Looks like the pansy finally has some balls!"
The four laughed amongst themselves before Henry brought his boot down onto the blue inhaler with a shatter. "Guess you won't be needing that anymore right?" Henry chuckled.
"What the fuck are you doing?!"
The four stop and turn towards the house as Jay bounded towards them.
"Patrick, what have I told you about you and your-"
The entire block seemed to go silent as Jay's hand connected with Henry's face, producing a smack that could be hear around the world. "If I ever see you talking or even looking in their direction I will cut your balls off you stupid son of a bitch." Jay scolded as her finger rested on Henry's chest.
"W-We just w..wanted to see if you could c-come roller skating." Stan fumbled as he looked to Jay.
Jay felt her heart sink to the bottom of her chest as she listened to the kids whimper in pain because of her.
"Common sweetheart I was a stupid little joke!-" Patrick shrugged as he sauntered towards irate Jay.
"Don't even get me started!" Jay shouted in response.
Helping the losers from the ground, the four boys remained a good distance away as the group gathered their skateboards and bikes.
As the group headed down the sidewalk, past the bullies, Patrick pulled Jay into him. "Common Jay, stop being so over protective." He whispered.
Jay looked up to him and back to the side walk as she ripped her arm away. "I don't want to fucking hear it Patrick."
"I-It was a joke!" Patrick scoffed as he gripped the girls arm again in his fist.
"See, the thing is I thought you were changing. Not only for me but for yourself, know I see that you don't care about yourself or me." Jay spat as she pushed past him.
Patrick's heart began to strain and cramp as his fists clenched together and his jaw tightened with every breath he took. "Jay.."
Fellow students quickly fled the scene, filing back onto the street and inside the house until the four boys were left alone.
Henry huffed, watching Patrick suffer as Jay followed behind the losers down the sidewalk. "Don't let her get to you man. She's bad news I'm telling y-."
"Are you fucking kidding me right now Bowers?" Patrick barked, his eyebrows knit together tight and his head tilted.
"B-Because last time I checked the only reason why you started this gang was because you were afraid of your dad."
Henry craned his neck in disgust, "I may be afraid of my dad but at least I'm not a softy for some girl next door."
Patrick shook his head in response, as Belch and Victor both consoled him, patting his shoulder.
"Common guys I think this party is done." Belch muttered as he led the gang to the car parked next to the curb.
