Unexpected Love

Chapter 23

P.O.V Niall

 Cortnee drifted off to sleep with her head on my lap. All she did was say sorry over and over again. I kept telling her that it was okay. I have to be up in about 4 hours and I just can’t get to sleep. Maybe it’s because I’m sitting up. I didn’t want to disturb Cortnee’s slumber.

I attempted to lay down slowly, and once my head was on the arm rest, my next mission was to get legs up. I slowly kicked off my shoes, and tried to get my legs up but Cortnee started to wiggle. “Mmm” she mumbled. “Cortnee,” I said softly. She looked over at me and blinked a couple of time. “I’m sorry” she said, she shot up and sat up straight. “Do you want to go home?” she asked me looking concern. “No, just want to lay down. I was trying not to disturb you.”

She looked at me, “You can go lay in the spare room,” she offered. “Okay.” I got up and she followed behind me. “Here you are” she said rubbing her eyes. She reminds me of a little puppy when she does that. “If you need me, I’m next door over” she gave me hug and walked to her room.

I lay in the bed, and just to think that she is right there in the other room makes me smile. I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep.

P.O.V Cortnee

I got into bed and wrapped my duvet around me. I started to have back flashes of horrible things, like Dylan and I guess memory that I have lost or just plain dreams. I really couldn’t sleep now. I got up with my duvet around me and made my way to the guest room. I slowly opened the door and I saw Niall all sprawled out. I really didn’t want to disturb me either.

I slowly crawled into bed and laid next him. I guess he is a heavy sleeper. I closed my eyes and he ended up putting his arms around me. I fell asleep moments later.

P.O.V Niall

My phone alarm went off in my pocket. I opened my eyes slowly and notice the back of Cortnee’s head was right there. I looked around the room; I’m still in the spare room. Did she just crawl in bed? Did she sleepwalk? I really had to get up and not worry about this. I slowly moved my arm from under her. She is a light sleeper because once I did that she turned over and blinked to wake up.

“Good morning” I said. “Sorry, good morning” there she goes again saying sorry. “Why are you always saying sorry?” I chuckled. “Sorry” she said and her face went red. “I need to get ready for the interview this morning” I reminded her. “Oh, do you want breakfast?” she asked sitting up. “I don’t think I have time” I told her.

There was knock on Cortnee front door. “I need to find some pants” she looked down and forgot was wearing really short yoga shorts. She ran to her room and slid on pajama pants.  She slid on her slippers and ran to the door. I followed her behind but slower. “Oh hi, Liam.” She said surprised. “Hi, I forgot to mention you need to watch the babies toda--, oh hi Niall” Cortnee turned to see me at the edge of the hall. “Hi Liam.” Cortnee move to the side to let Liam in. “Are they sleeping?” she asked trying to peak in like a child trying to sneak peak at a present. “Yeah they are.” He told and sat them down gently. “So Niall, did you say the night?” he asked looking up, he seemed annoyed. “Yeah,” I told him with no shame.

“Cortnee, I’ll text you later.” I said giving her a hug and peck on forehead. “See you at the interview Liam.” I left her alone with her ex, wasn’t pretty smart but she will be fine. I hope.

P.O.V Cortnee

I sat on the floor in front of the babies’ seats. “Her cheeks are so rosy” I giggled. “She looks a lot like you.” Liam said looking down at me. “You are wide awake this morning” I told him as I stood up. “Yeah, I know” he had smile on his face. “Sorry I look like crap” I was completely embarrassed. “Cortnee, I used to wake up to you every morning.  You don’t look like crap” he reminded me. “Okay, so what time are you picking them up?” I asked him. I was getting nervous. “Cortnee, its Friday. You have them till Sunday night. I’ll be bringing there play yards to sleep in later”
