I stared at him as he stared at him. I wasn't expecting him to ask me that.
"Say something," he said.
"You want me to adopt Mikayla?" I asked him a bit surprised.
"Well, yeah," I shrugged.
I sat there in my bed as I thought about it.
"Think about it, Kami. When we get married, you will become her mom, but with adoption, you will legally become her mom," he said to me.
I looked at him then at my parents as they looked at me. They had a weird look on their faces.
"Wait. Did you know?"
"Who, us? Nope," they said. Uh, huh, sure. Did they think I was born yesterday? I was years ago, but that's not the point.
"Seriously? Just like all those times, you said mom was having a nightmare when in actuality, you were having sex," I said to dad as I rolled my eyes.
"I can't help it if your mother is a screamer," he shrugged.
"Eww, gross dad!"
"Well, you mentioned it," he said as mom smacked him. Ugh, I didn't need to know that.
Dom shifted in his spot. Yeah, he still shudders at the thought when we stayed with them.
"Anyway," I said, rolling my eyes at them before turning to Dom, "Where do I sign?" A smile crept across his face as he leaned over and kissed me.
He was right. It made sense to make Mikayla, my legal daughter. Mom did it with Georgia, and Wyatt did it with Avie. Plus, I love Mikayla like my own even though she's pretty active five years old.

A few days later, they released me. I had to wear this stupid leg brace for the next four weeks, and once that was off, then physical therapy. Oh yay.
Dom brought me home and helped me out of the car and into the house. He was going to pick up Mikayla tomorrow, giving me time to adjust being back for the night.
I made my way over to the couch using my crutches, which, by the way, are super uncomfortable. You have to use them to help you move, and they put pressure under your armpits. I would have preferred a walker even if it did make me look old.
He helped me to the couch, and I sat down, throwing a pillow under my leg. You're probably wondering why I didn't let him carry me, because Dom has a habit of throwing me over his shoulder. No, just no.
While I got a situation, someone came in and closed the door behind them. We looked as Georgia said, "If Justin asks, you never saw me, and I was never here."
"Hi to you, too," I said to her as she waddled over to me.
"Oh, hey. How's the leg?"
"Hurts, and why are you here? Aren't you suppose to be on bed rest?"
"No. I'm supposed to be dealing with less stress, but Justin thinks that means bed rest and keeps hovering over me," she said, taking a seat in the chair. "Ever have anyone hover? It's annoying."
"He wants to make sure you and the baby are fine," I reasoned.
"Kami, I love you, but trust me, this is beyond caring. I'm pregnant, not disabled," she said to me.
The thing about Georgia is she hated hovering. She took things as they were. When she got her period, she didn't want a big fuss. She went along her business, where I thought I was dying.
