Noah went off to school with the determination to focus on school. Maybe it was the best. Georgia moved her stuff into Justin's house. Not like she had much here since most of the things were already there.
As she moved out, Dom and Mikayla moved in with me. We fixed up Georgia's room for her. Dom and I painted it, decorating it with her favorite things.
At one point, we got into a paint fight with each other - good thing we had tarps down and covered things. It was a mess but fun.
As for Dom's parents, they understood about him wanting to move out. His mom still helped with Mikayla while we worked. She also started school.
I went with Dom to take her on her first day. She wore a backpack and carried a little lunch box with Casper the Friendly Ghost on it. He held her hand as he walked her to the classroom. We got a friendly face met us in the form of Miss Tara.
She was my first teacher and my mom and Zara's mom's friend and Zoe's mom.
"Who do we have here?" She asked.
"This is Mikayla," Dom said.
She crouched and held out her hand, "Hi, Mikayla. I'm Miss Tara."
"Hi."
"I know today seems scary, but I promise it won't stay that way," she explained to her.
"You pretty," she said as she pointed at her.
Tara smiled as she held out her hand.
Mikayla looked at Dom, "It's okay, baby girl. She's a friend."
She let go of Dom's hand and took Tara's hand. As they walked into the classroom, Mikayla waved, "Bye, daddy."
"Bye, baby girl. I love you," he called after her.
I reached over and took his hand in mine, giving it a gentle squeeze. He smiled at me as he wiped his eyes. We turned and left, making our way to work.
While we were at work, Dom's mom picked up Mikayla and took her home from school until we got off work. We finished up the day and made our way out, but not before getting stopped by dad, "I would like to speak to you two for a moment."
We looked at each other as dad walked towards his office. This conversation was good or bad.
We walked to his office and closed the door.
Dad looked at us and got right to the point, "Are you two living together?"
"Yes," I said slightly.
He looked at us then sighed, "I'm not even going to deal with this."
We were a bit confused.
"I'll let Ben deal with it."
My eyes widened, and jaw dropped.
He leaned in towards Dom, "So that you know, Kami is everything to him. Good luck."
I think we both almost had a heart attack. Dad let us leave as we hurried out of the door. Dad's calm was terrifying.
Mom walked into the office, "I take it, you told them."
"Yes. Do our kids honestly think we are stupid?"
"Apparently," she laughed as he rolled his eyes.

We drove over to Dom's parent's house and picked up Mikayla, then made our way home. As weird as it sounds, it felt nice. Dom pulled in, and we got out. He opened the back door and unhooked her from her car seat and set her down. Then he grabbed her stuff and closed the door.
