I stirred and felt so sore, then felt something in my mouth. I reached up and stopped, turning to see Dom.
"It's a vent."
I was so confused. I looked into Dom's eyes as he stared back at me. He placed his hand on my forehead and held my other hand.
"Welcome back," he smiled. I blinked. I squeezed his hand and closed my eyes. A single tear escaped my eye.

Dom's POV
When she opened her eyes, that was the best sight. These past few weeks were hell. She crashed, and they brought her back. I thought that was it, but she came back to us. She came back to me.
I know it confused her, but I figure there would be time to tell her everything. Relief flooded me when she opened her eyes.
The doctor checked her, and when things seem okay, they asked me to leave the room so they could remove the vent. I stood in the hallway as I leaned with my back against the wall, as I cried. They were tears of relief, knowing things would be okay.
About ten minutes later, they allowed me to go back into the room. I walked over to Kami's bed.
"Dom," she spoke with a raspiness to her voice.
"Shh, I'm here."
"You stayed," she whispered.
"I stayed," I nodded.
Tears fell down her cheeks as she grabbed my hand and pulled it to her. The warmth of her skin against mine felt terrific. I looked at her. I never wanted to take my eyes off of her.

Waking up to see Dom, there made me happy. I needed his emerald, green eyes. Everything was a blur. He filled me in on what happened. That was nuts.
When everyone found out I was awake, I got bombarded with everyone. It was overwhelming.
Then Dom brought Mikayla up to see me, and I was excited to see her chubby cheeks. I had missed her. He pushed a chair against my bed and picked her up, placing her on it so she could see me better.
"Hi," she said.
"Hi, Mikayla." I smiled.
"Did you get a boo-boo?" She pointed her little finger at my arm.
"Yeah."
"I can kiss it and make it better," she said to me.
"I would love that," I said to her. She placed her little hands on my bed and leaned over and kissed my boo-boo.
"All better," she said to me.
"Much," I replied.
"Kami, when are you coming home?" She said, frowning.
"Soon, baby," I assured her.
"I miss you."
"I miss you, too."
She turned to Dom. "Daddy, can Kami come home?"
He looked at her. "Soon, baby girl. She needs to stay a few more days here."
"Okay," he said to him. Mikayla visited a while, and we talked. She told me all about Casper and what I missed. I loved listening to her.
Dom's parents showed up a while later to visit and to take Mikayla home.
Once we were alone, he sat down next to the bed and took my hand in his. I looked at him and smiled, "So what happened?"
*******
Dom's POV
I expected that question. Since Kami woke up, I hadn't had time to talk to her about what happened. I would not keep it from her, either.
I cleared my throat. "Heath went after you and Georgia with a knife. He cut your arm and leg and cut a vein. You lost a lot of blood and crashed quite a few times because of it. We thought we lost you."
She looked at me as tears filled her eyes then they dropped onto her cheeks. I stood up and leaned over, wiping the tears from her cheeks.
"But you survived, and you're here," I whispered.
She reached and placed her hand on mine, nuzzling into it.
"Kami, Heath is dead."
Her face snapped into my direction. "What?"
"We all went colliding together. You and Heath fell over the side of the roof, and I caught you. You kept kicking at him, and he ended up cutting your leg until he lost his grip and fell to his death."
The minute I said that she cried. It was over. Her stalker was dead, and relief swept over us. I cradled her in my arms, letting her cry. She needed that cry.
Once she finished crying, we talked.
"What about our jobs? Our home?" She said worriedly.
"Wait, you survived a hellish experience, and you're worried about those things?" I gave her a look.
"Now that I think of it, that was a pretty dumb question," she smiled, and I chuckled.
"Don't worry; they're still there. I don't think your dad is that much of an asshole to fire us," I said to her.
"God, I hope not because that would be a dick move," a voice said. We looked to see Scott and Lina.
He walked over to the foot of the bed. "Don't worry. Both jobs are still waiting for both of you."
"Sorry, it's that everything is a haze," she said, making a hand gesture around her head.
"Princess two, it's fine. You went through a lot," he reassured her.
"The doctor said you would need physical therapy for your leg and that you have to wear a leg brace for a few weeks so it can heal," Lina told her.
"I think I can deal with that considering breathing and all," she grinned. I shook my head. My girl seriously had a morbid sense of humor.
"How's Georgia?" She asked.
"Georgia's fine. Although the doctor put her off until after the baby was born, he didn't want the stress to affect the baby any more than it already did," Scott told her.
She looked at us.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm happy the baby is fine. No offense, but if I had to do it all over again, I would," she said to us.
"Kami, you are by far the most selfless person I know. You have always been the type to put others before yourself. You make me, and your dad's so proud," Lina told her.
"That's because I had good role models growing up," she smiled.
"What?" Her mom said.
"Come on, mom, you and Dad always put me first no matter what. I was luckier than most because even though you two weren't together, you were always there for me. That's what a parent does. They put their child first. You all taught me that," she told them. "Just like Dom and I will put Mikayla first."
"What?" I said.
She looked at me, "Just because Mikayla is your child doesn't mean she isn't mine. I may not have given birth to her, but it doesn't mean I love her any less," she explained. "You're a package deal." Then she smiled.
"And therefore, I could not love you more than I already do," I said to her making her smile even more. "I also wanted to talk to you about something." She gave me a look, as did her parents.
I hope she agrees.
