[JOEY STANFORD]

I stared at myself in the mirror. I didn't like how I looked right now. Today, I'm insecure I guess.

It's weird. Some days I'm like 'oh damn girl I look fucking hotttt' then other days I'm like 'ew who's this rat looking at me in the mirror'

I threw my hair up into a pony tail and went downstairs.

"Good morning Joey" my mom chirped.

"Morning mom" I said bluntly. "Any plans today?" She asked. "I was planning on studying at the library and maybe take out a couple books" I said.

"That's good." She replied. "Yeah I should I actually get going now" I said leaning over to see the time.

"Okay. Have fun!" She said as I was putting shoes on. "Okay!" I smiled leaving.

I put my headphones on and started walking.

I know. I'm a senior in high school and I don't have a license. Fight me.

I stared at my feet trying to avoid contact with people.

Left. Right. Left. Right. Left. Right.

It took me about 10 minutes to get to the library. "Good morning Joey" the librarian Margaret said.

"Good morning!" I beamed going to the spot I usually sit.

I grabbed a couple notebooks and textbooks out of my bag and began studying.

I was never really popular. I had a couple friends but that's it. I liked it that way. I would rather quality over quantity.

I don't have social media either, due to past experiences.

After about an hour in the library studying for finals, I finally packed my stuff up and decided to head home.

I forgot to eat breakfast.

I got up from my chair lost in my thoughts and walked towards the door. "Goodbye sweetheart" Margaret said. "Goodbye Margaret" I smiled.

I observed my surroundings. The kids at the park. The elderly couple taking a walk. Birds chirping. Today was a good day.

That was until I was halfway home and realized I forgot something. My fucking bag.

I gasped. And quickly turned around and ran towards the library in a panic. I literally had everything in there.

If someone stole it I would be dead.

I pulled out my phone to check the time while running and my dumbass runs into someone making me fall down.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry" he said. "It's okay. It was my fault." I said looking up at this guy. I couldn't help but notice his piercing blue eyes.

He helped me up and I continued walking to the library. Damn he was cute.

I went in, grabbed my bag and left. By now I was starving. I was also still pretty tired. But then again, when am I not tired?

I get to my house and toss my bag onto the couch. "Mom?" I yell. No response.

Alright then. I went to the kitchen and made myself some eggs. It was quiet. I loved the silence. It made me feel relaxed.

I hummed to myself.

"We're home!" My mom called coming through the front door. We?

Go over to the front entrance to see my brother/best friend jack.

"Jack!" I yelled running into his arms. "Oh my gosh. How's my favourite sister?" He asked through the hug.

"I'm great" I said pulling out of the hug. "I missed my best friend" I said pushing his shoulder.

"Your best friend missed you too" he replied.

"How long are you here for?" I asked.

"3 weeks" he beamed.

"oh my gosh that's a long time" I said hugging him again.

-

Jack and I were now on our 4th movie in our movie marathon. We were watching insidious. Mine and Jacks favorite movie. I love it.

Jack was eating popcorn and I was eating the pizza we ordered an hour prior.

"Children." My mom said clapping her hands to get our attention. We turn our heads to her.

"You guys haven't moved since 11:00am. Do you guys know what time it is?" My mom said holding back a laugh.

I shook my head. "It's 5" she grinned. "Seriously?!" Jack and I exclaimed.

"Yes! Now get up. We're going out for supper"
