2.3 - not a false alarm

I woke up the next morning next to Jonah. Confused and nervous at first, but then remembering that I asked him to stay with me.

My head was pounding.

I still had my makeup on from the night before.

The thought of what happened last night gave me chills.

I leaned over to my dresser and checked the time. 11:25am. Not too bad. I put my phone back and snuggled back into my blankets attempting to fall back asleep.

Then my phone rang. Waking Jonah up. I checked to see who is was. It was only Daniel.

"Hey Joey. How you feeling?" He asked. "Awful. My head is pounding and my muscles feel super achy." I complained.

"Take some Advil." Daniel said. "Okay" I said getting out of bed and walking across the apartment to the only bathroom hating every second of it.

"Are you...Okay now?" Daniel asked. "Yeah, you could say that. But the thought of what happened still sends chills down my spine." I replied dumping an Advil into the palm of my hand.

"Awe, well, take it easy today. The boys here aren't doing too well either." Daniel said. "Oh. How's Corbyn?" I asked. "He's probably the worst out of everyone." Daniel replied.

"That sucks but, I'm gonna go. I'll talk to you later." I said. "Okay bye, love you." He said. "Bye, love you too, sparky." I said before hanging up.

I walked over to the kitchen and drank some water took swallow the Advil.

"Who was on the phone?" Jonah asked coming out of my room. I hesitated before replying.

"My uh friend...Emily." I smiled. "Emily?" He asked in disbelief. "Yeah. She lives across the hall." I said.

"Well alright." He said still suspicious.

It's been a few days since the club. And I was over at Joeys this place.

We were laying in her bed taking Snapchats of us with the filters and just goofing around.

She looked adorable.

We put on a dog filter one but it was a poodle. "It's Jack" we both said at the same time and started laughing.

After a minute we stopped laughing and went to another filter. We took dumb videos of us and saved them.

"Imma go get some food." Joey said hopping off her bed. I followed her into the kitchen. But I took her hand from behind her and she turned around subconsciously.

"What?" She smiled. "I just wanted to say...I love you." I smiled. She wrapped her arms around my neck.

"I love you t-" but she was interrupted by Jack bursting through the door. "Hey Joe-" was all he said before hurt filled his eyes.

He left the doorway and began to walk away. "Jack wait!" Joey yelled running after him. "What?!" He yelled.

"We-we were gonna tell you but-" "tell me what? That you guys are together? Yeah I've figured that out by now." He said.

He turned around and stormed out. And I swore I caught a tear fall as he turned around.

All I could feel was regret.

I couldn't believe it. My sister and best friend/crush had been lying to me. And I don't even wanna know for how long.

But it all started to make sense.

I got off the elevator and went to my car. I sat there for a couple seconds before a banged on the steering wheel.

But crying seconds after. I was completely utterly heartbroken.

I cried the whole drive home. I hated it. I hated my life.

Some people might say I'm ungrateful for thinking that but I meant it.

I pulled into the garage and took the keys out of the ignition. I wiped the tears off my cheeks and went inside.

I walk into the kitchen and right away I see Zach. "Hey Jack" he smiled.

I just fake smiled back acknowledging him. "Is something wrong?" He asked. "No, Zach. I'm fine." I said irritated while opening the fridge.

"No you're not. I can tell when you're upset and I can tell when you're lying. What's wrong?" He said more sternly yet still softly.

"Why do you care so much?!" I snapped and yelled at him. "Because Jack, you've been too blind to notice but I'm fucking in love with you!" Zach yelled back.

"You? In love with me?!" I said shocked. "Yes Jack! For months!" Zach ached.

"I like Daniel though." I replied. "Jack! Wake up! When are you gonna realize that Daniel is long gone. He's not the one for you-"

"And you're saying that you are?" I cut Zach off. "No-but I would hope so." Zach said yelling the first part but said the last part more softly.

His voice cracking a bit.

I felt bad for the kid. He was right. Zach is such a great guy and this entire time I've been breaking over the wrong guy.

"I'm sorry" I said softly. "I gotta go think." I added on before going up to my room.

I went into my room and dived onto my bed. I knew Zach was right. I wanted to stop liking Daniel but I couldn't.
