0.2 - the second encounter

We all sat at a table. It was only the 3 of us since my dad left us when jack and I were little.

Our mom didn't tell us the reason until we were 12. We didn't hear or see him leave either since he just left in the middle of the night leaving a note.

We've all moved on though.

The waiter came over and took our order. I didn't order much since I was still full from the pizza Jack and I ate.

Whoops.

It was really hot and loud in the restaurant so I decided to go get some air.

I walked farther than I anticipated. I found myself in a park.

I was walking in the park by myself to think. I breathed in the smell of the cool air and the trees around me.

I had been home for a couple of weeks visiting family.

I loved being home. I mean, I loved LA but I don't know. Portland just makes me feel like I'm a little kid again.

Brings back old memories. Especially in this park.

I saw this girl walking in my direction. She was daydreaming. Not even knowing where she was going.

Right as I get to her, this girl literally trips over her own feet and falls.

I quickly caught her before she hit the ground.

She looked at me. "Haven't we done this before?" She smiled as I set her back on her feet. It was the same girl I bumped into this morning.

"Yeah we have" I chuckled.

"Sorry. I never pay attention to anything when I'm walking" she apologized.

"Don't worry. Me either." I chuckled. She smiled. I looked at her for a moment. "What?" She asked with a small smile.

"Nothing." I blushed looking away.

"Thank you" She said playing with her fingers. She was nervous. I made her nervous.

"What's your name?" I asked softly. She looked at me. "Joey." She said. Pretty name for a pretty girl. I thought to myself.

"I'm Daniel" I said. "Nice to meet you daniel" she beamed tucking her hair behind her ear.

"Nice to meet you too" I replied. She got a text. "Shoot I gotta go" She said quietly.

"I'll see you around Daniel" she said jogging away. "Can I at least have this pretty girls number?" I shouted as she almost left the park.

"Meet me here tomorrow at noon!" She shouted back.

"Okay!" I waved walking in the opposite direction.

I began to walk home. Thinking about Joey. She was pretty cute.

I quickly ran back to the restaurant and sat down at our table. "Where the hell were you?!" My mom said obviously angry with me.

"I'm sorry. I walked farther than I meant to and lost track of time. I'll make it up to you guys though...I'll make supper for you guys tomorrow." I said not wanting them to be mad at me.

"It's fine. Joey." My mom sighs.

I give Jack a sympathetic look. By now they were done eating and my food was cold.

I felt really bad.

That night I got home and went to my room. I just laid in bed and watched Netflix.

I was really tired.

I daydreamed for a while just looking around my room. While daydreaming, I soon fell asleep.

I walk down to the living room and see my sister Anna. I sit next to her on the couch.

"Hey Anna" I said. "Hey Daniel" She smiled.

"I really missed you" I said. "I missed you too." She said giving me a hug. "I love you Anna" I said. "I love you too Daniel" she replied.

We pulled out of the hug. "So what are you watching?" I asked. "Stranger Things. Who were you with today in the park?" Anna asked.

"A girl." I blushed. "I would have never guessed." She said sarcastically. "Like what's her name and stuff like that." She said.

"Well her names Joey. And I'm hanging out with her again tomorrow." I said. "How'd you meet her?" She asked.

"Well I bumped into her this morning. Then again in the park then that just sorta started a conversation." I said.

"Do you like her?" She asked. "I don't know. She's pretty. But I just met her." I replied.
