The leaves spun around the ground as they gently flew away, Lance walked silently along the road.
It was peaceful, a sad smile placed on his lips, he entered the building he done thousands of times over, "Good morning, Lance!"
He sent a small smile heading down the main hall, his eyes burned from the crappy lighting as he entered the small room.
He sighed sitting in his normal chair, he fixed his eyes on the man in front of him. Soft Pale skin, dark black hair. He smiled fondly at the man.
He missed the voice, he missed the laughter; he gently grabbed the man's hand watching the IV, "How are you today, Keith? Graduation was held today. Mama is getting both are diplomas.. You had enough credits already."
Lance didn't notice when he started crying, he didn't realize he was gripping the man's hand so tightly it was turning white, "I'm so sorry I didn't arrive sooner."
Flashback-
"Worthless!" Lance heard yelling and took off inside the old home, he knew something was very wrong, but he stopped dead in his tracks as he saw a woman.
"Ma'am?" He whispered stepping closer, before he could check her pulse, he heard it. A loud banging noise then a sprained voice.
"I should've killed you a long time ago!"
In seconds Lance's legs carried him up the stairs, he ran to the broken door, he watched in horror as Keith was bright red and his so called father figure latched onto his neck with his hands.
Lance looked around seeing a syringe on the ground, he jumped into action, repeatedly stabbing him in the head with the syringe.
"GET OFF OF HIM!"
"YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE LET HIM GO!"
He tackled him and started repeatedly hitting him blow after blow.
-
Lance stared at what he did for a moments notice, the blood that covered him and the man was horrendous, Lance shook it off and bent down lifting Keith.
"You're okay, Please, be okay. I can't lose you." Lance cried out staring at the frail bloody, barely breathing Keith. Keith's eyes barely open as he stared at the man on the floor.
"I didn't know what else to do." Lance commented scared. Lance ran out the door holding Keith close to him, screaming for help. His voice hoarse as his screams were are loud and painful as someone who was losing everything they worked so hard for.
--
Lance sobbed into the sheets of the hospital bed, if only he listen to his gut, it told him not to let Keith leave.
He shook his head back and forth, "I'm stupid, I don't deserve you. You don't deserve me. I'm so fucking sorry." He gripped the sheets with his hands. "You almost got killed because of me"
A soft cold hand gently grabbed Lance's hand, he sniffed a few times thinking it was Shiro or Allura visiting again.
"L- Lance?" A cracked voice questioned.
Lance's eyes widened, he raised his head slowly. Purple. Purple eyes stared back.
"Keith!" Lance latched onto the small male in the bed, tears flowed covering his shoulder and the hospital gown, "you're okay?! You're awake...Oh my God!"
Lance pulled back staring at the big purple eyes watching him, "I'm so sorry."
Lance trailed his hands along the faded bruising on his neck.
"I...W-Where is-" Keith glanced around his eyes shifting from on area to another nervously.
"You're safe." Lance spoke quietly, Keith relaxed slowly. His heart rate monitor going to a slow pace once more.
"I'm so sorry" Lance repeated putting his forehead on Keith's, "I shouldn't of let you leave, I should've followed you sooner-" Lance rambled on till.
A soft velvet touch replaced the words leaving his mouth, his heart stopped.
As the soft presence left his lips he stared down wide at the man who was gently reaching up to touch his face. "Don't..cry" Keith's voice was rough but managed to speak so beautifully.
He wiped the tears away, "Did you just-" Keith nodded a soft smile place on his lips. "Let me go get the doctor!" Lance took off yelling 'he's awake' down the hall
