*four days later*
Adora
I was genuinely surprised.
Santiago had kept his distance better than I ever envisioned him doing.
He hadn't given in, he'd kept his distance just like he said he'd do.
I was proud of him, but also missing his touch.
Santiago wasn't paranoid, persay. He hadn't ever really been concerned about hurting me during sex. He usually would, definitely when he was mad, just have sex with me and act like it didn't happen.
Maybe being around his parents gave him that gentlemanly sense.
But I doubted it.
"I actually had no clue this was a thing."
I looked over at Val who was busy drinking some random beer. I giggled and grabbed my glass of wine, taking a sip of it.
"You have a big family," I said.
"Tell me about it. You should see our actual occasion get-togethers, this one was thrown together last night."
"I thought you had no clue this was a thing?" I asked, cocking an eyebrow up at him as I grinned.
"A little birdy told me," he whispered, shooting me a wink.
My eyes darted over the boys, who were currently busy being very invested in an intense game of soccer.
"They're already so much like Santiago," Val said, nudging my elbow, "it's insane."
I just looked over at him and nodded. "Yeah, they are. They're very smart already."
Val just sighed and swirled his beer around in his bottle. "I doubted Santiago's ability to be a father, you know."
I just looked over at him. Why would he do such a thing? Santiago was an amazing father.
"He lived such a reckless life, definitely as a teenager, I didn't know if that would continue on into his adulthood."
I was always interested in Santiago's past, and this just so happened to be what interested me the most.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
Val folded his arms over his chest. "Santiago had a bad habit of getting with girls, most definitely when he was mad at me. When he wanted to prove himself to me, to let me know he was a man," he said, "Santiago didn't prove himself to be a man, to me, at least, until I saw him Fred and Jo. He looked at them like they hung the moon and the stars."
Val just looked over at me with a smile. "And then, when he called me almost a year ago and he told me loved you, even though he couldn't tell you."
I just smiled and looked down. "You have no need to doubt Santiago. He's an amazing man. And an even more amazing father."
"Yeah, I'm ready for you two to have a child of your own. If him and Alessandra could make kids as beautiful as these, just imagine the possibilities with you two!"
I laughed and I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around my neck. I looked over my shoulder and saw Santiago, his eyebrows in a deep furrow. "Who are you shit-talking?"
His father just held his hands up with a smile. "Confidential."
Luciana smiled and grabbed Val's arm, pulling him our in the yard with her.
"Don't tell him what I said!" Val mouthed, as Luciana pulled him away to dance with her.
I giggled and Santiago's arms fell to his sides, making me turn around to face him.
