Adora
My knee bounced up and down rapidly as I contemplated going inside. The boys had already gotten out of the car and ran inside, and Santiago was waiting on me to gather up the guts.
"Babe," he said, his hand slapping against my thigh to stop my leg from bouncing anymore, "you're going to be fine."
"What if they don't like me?" I asked, nervously biting down on my thumbnail as I looked over at him.
"You already know my dad loves you," he deadpanned.
"Okay, well what if your mom doesn't like me."
He grabbed my head with both of his large hands, pressing a kiss against my forehead.
"You're psyching yourself out. They're going to love you."
I bit down on my bottom lip. "You're sure?"
"I'm positive."
He unlocked the doors and I opened mine, smoothing my yellow sundress down.
"Am I overdressed?" I asked, stalling.
"No, amor," Santiago said, "you're stalling. They're going to love you. I promise."
He grabbed my hand and pulled me close to him. "Te amo."
I sighed and pressed a kiss to his lips. "Yo te quiero más."
He pulled away. "You ready?"
I nodded and bit down on my bottom lip, grabbing his arm. I hugged it tightly, my teeth chattering. I was as anxious as I could be.
We walked up to the door and I let go of him, contemplating actually going inside.
Santiago eventually opened the door and my eyes turned into saucers at the elaborate interior of Valentino and Luciana's home.
"Wow," I said, following Santiago inside, "this is stunning."
A woman rounded the corner and I knew from looking, this was Luciana King herself.
"Mi amor!" She squealed, holding her arms out. Santiago smiled and walked into them, wrapping his arms around her neck.
"Hola, mom," he greeted, pressing a kiss to the top of her head, "are you getting younger?"
"Oh, stop," she said, pulling away from him, "Dios, mi bebe ha crecido!"
He laughed and I couldn't help my lips from pursing together.
Santiago just turned around to face me, nodding his head. I slowly but surely made my way over to them, nervously smiling.
"Oh Dios mío," Luciana said, a hand over her chest, "ella es hermosa."
I couldn't help a laugh from escaping me. "Muchas gracias."
She wrapped her arms around my neck and I couldn't help my eyes from widening, Santiago's broad smile contagious.
"I'm Luciana," she said, "it's so nice to finally meet you. Adora, right?"
She pulled away from me and I nodded. "Yes, I'm Adora."
She smiled. "I love your dress."
"Thank you," I said, "I hope I'm not too overdr-"
"Ah, senorita!"
I turned around and smiled when I saw Val walking towards me, open arms.
"Hola, Val!" I greeted, smiling as I walked into his hug.
