I looked over my shoulder as I grabbed my black t-shirt, Adora's head in her palm.

"Ugh," she groaned out, falling on her back, "can't you just, like, reschedule your trip?"

I smiled and slipped my shirt on. "I wish I didn't have to go."

I walked over to her side of the bed and she sighed, biting down on her bottom lip as she twirled a strand of hair around her finger.

"As tempting as you are, that can't hold me back," I said, smiling down at her.

Adora was such a beautiful human.

She grabbed my hand and pulled it up to her lips. "Don't go."

"I have to go, baby," I said, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead.

"Right now?" She asked, "don't you have, like, two minutes to spare?"

I smiled, rubbing the pad of my thumb against her cheek. "I love you."

"And I'm horny, and I have to wait two days. Can't we just like, have a quickie?"

I chuckled. "Baby, it's two days. Half the time of your period, you lucky girl."

"I guess I'll just find my own way to keep myself occupied," she said, with a shrug of her shoulders.

I chuckled. "Let me know how that turns out."

She smiled and pulled my lips down to hers. Her fingertips grazed against my jawline, gliding down my chest and to my abdomen. "Promise me you'll be careful?"

I nodded and rested my forehead against hers. "I promise you."

She smiled up at me. "Okay. I guess I'll let you go now."

I pulled away from her. I hated lying to her so much, but I knew if I told her about what was happening it would put her in danger and I wasn't willing to do that, even if it meant lying to her.

"I'm going to put some clothes on and I'll be downstairs to help you get your bags," she said, nodding.

I smiled and grabbed my duffel bags, walking down the hallway and to the boys' rooms.

"Hey, boys, get up, I've got to leave," I said, dropping my bags as I knocked on their doors.

I waited a minute or so before knocking again. "Freddy, Josiah, I'm leaving."

I sighed and after a few more minutes of them not responding, I opened Fred's door first.

He wasn't in bed, his bathroom light was off.

I opened Josiah's door and the same situation.

I felt panic set in as I ran downstairs. "Boys!"

"Hey, dad, we're in the kitchen," Jo said, peeking around the corner.

I just let out a sigh of relief. "God, you two scared me. Don't ever do that again."

"We made you coffee," Fred said, a mug stuck out towards me.

I grabbed it. "Thank you, guys."

They smiled.

"Since you sent me into panic mode, go get my bags from beside your doors," I said, making them chuckle and run upstairs.

I gathered up my phone charger and wallet from the counter, rubbing the nape of my neck as I made sure I had everything else.

I turned around and the boys stood in front of me, my bags in their hands.
